"Ally, what's wrong?" Mia asked as I got into her car.
"I don't know what I was thinking," I sobbed.
"About Demi, about this party, about dating." I explained.
"What did Demi do?" She demanded.
"Demi didn't do anything, except make me totally fall for her," I answered angrily.
"And what's wrong with that?"
"It's a plot, Mia. She's famous, popular, and straight, she could get any guy. She's using me, I know it."
"What makes you think that?"
I stopped, trying to figure out why I thought that, Demi had never given me a reason to believe it.
"I don't know, she's a celebrity, I just believe it okay."
"So she didn't do anything. Seriously Ally, you have to take risks like this, maybe give Demi a chance," Mia protested.
"I can't, and you know it." I sighed.
"You're gonna have to break that wall at some point, and Demi isn't responsible for that wall. Maybe it's time to let it go and give her a chance."
I was awake all night thinking about what Mia said.
Sure, maybe if it was anyone else, but Demi? Definitely not.
But my mind kept going over us dancing, the butterflies she gave me, and how I kept wanting more.
I crawled out of bed and made my way downstairs, Mom was at work and Dad was out somewhere with the kids.
I made myself a quick breakfast and got changed into jean shorts and a red sweater.
"Hey Ally, how are you?" Mia asked, calling me.
"I'm fine, don't worry about me."
"Listen, Ally, I'm sorry about Demi, even though I don't think she really did anything. But anyways, I'll stop talking about it from now on."
"Actually," I took a deep breath, "I wanted to talk to you about Demi."
"What happened with you and her at the party?" Mia demanded.
"Well we danced, it was really good. I've never really felt this way about anyone Mia and-,"
She interrupted me excitedly, "oh my gosh you like Demi!"
"Yeah. But honestly it scares me Mia. I don't want this to end up like what happened between me and Ryan."
"Well like I said last night, you have to give Demi a chance. Just really think about this one, but I think she's perfect for you!" She squealed.
There was a knock at the door, I said goodbye to Mia and ran to get it.
My heart sped up a million times once I saw Demi standing on my porch.
"Hey," She began, even her voice made my knees weak.
"Uh, hi, what are you doing here?" I stuttered.
"Can we talk?" Demi asked nicely.
I held the door open as she walked in and lead her into my living room, plopping down on the black leather couch.
"What happened last night?" She asked, she looked genuinely concerned.
"Uh, I, uh," I stumbled.
"I'm so sorry Ally, I'm sorry for what I did, uh, well honestly I'm not sure what I did. But I want to fix it, please, please tell me what's wrong." She pleaded.
"You didn't do anything."
"Then what happened?"
"Like I said last night, you're making me fall for you. It really, really scares me."
"Why?" She demanded, but in a nice way.
I sighed, trying to delay before giving an answer. "I don't want to get hurt again. My last relationship didn't go very well, and I can't trust people easily anymore."
"I'm not gonna hurt you Ally," She said quietly.
I stared into her brown eyes, and lost my grip of reality for a moment, before I shook myself out of it.
"Please, give me a chance?"
After a long silence I finally made up my mind. Ally was right, I had to let that wall down. I had to take a risk.
"Okay." I watched her bright smile as I said this.
"So, you can come back to my house? We can just hang out," Demi suggested, totally changing the subject.
I nervously texted my Dad saying I was at her house, then followed her out.
"If you don't mind my asking, what happened in your last relationship?" She asked.
"I'll tell you when I'm ready Demi." I replied flatly.
We pulled into her driveway, her house was huge, the biggest I'd ever seen.
She lead me inside and into her living room.
"Thanks for giving me a chance. I won't let you down." She said softly, leaving a gentle kiss on my cheek.
