Chapter 3: Abrasive Action

Penny Potters POV

I was sitting in Potions, my table was next to Malfoy. I completely ignored him. He would look over at me occasionally, but kept quiet. After Harry and I finished our potions, I helped Neville.

“Thanks, for earlier, Penny.” He told me, looking down.

“No problem Neville. They bully you again, let me know. I can do more than hit.” I said that a little louder, making sure Draco herd it.

I fixed Neville potion, and went back to my spot at the table. A note was folded on my notebook.

Going to apologize?

Was written on it. Malfoy was looking over expectantly.

I scribbled something on the paper. I held it out to Malfoy, but just before he could get it, I threw it across the room. “That answer your question?” I asked him, smiling sweetly.

He sneered at me, then turned away.

Draco Malfoy POV

I watched Penny in potions. I noticed how when she thought hard, a crease formed between her brows, and she bit her bottom lip. She was done quickly. She helped Longbottom with his potion. I scribbled a ‘Going to apologize?’ on a piece of parchment, folded it up, and put it on her notebook.

When she read it, she wrote something on it, then held it out for me to take. I reached out, but then she flung it to the back of the class room.

“That answer her question?” she asked sweetly, smiling.

I sneered at her. After 5 weeks, I was getting good at pretending to hate her. But every time I saw her laugh, of smile, I felt like someone was shocking me.

At the end of class, I waited for everyone to leave. I went to the back of the room and found the note she had thrown. I unfolded it as I walked out of the room.

 Love your silvery gray eyes...

I smiled wide. She didn’t completely hate me. She liked me, at least a little. I pocketed the note and walked to Divination. I had hope.

Divination was one of the only classes that I had, Potter1 (aka Harry) had, and Penny didn’t. She took Ancient Runes with the muggle born, Granger.

It was a few menthes later, and I was still somewhat giddy about the bloody note. But I force myself to not smile. I had a reputation to uphold. I hated this class, I wasn’t going to smile like I didn’t want to be anywhere else.

Logans sat next to me, talking about how he herd a rumor that a Ravenclaw was dating a Gryffindor. I didn’t care. I just dozed in and out through the whole class.

I yawned as I walked out of the tower. I stopped dead in my tracks. I saw Gregory Smith, Ravenclaw, snogging a girl in Gryffindor robes. She had messy black hair, and a beautiful face. Penny.

I clenched my fists. Time for abrasive action . I stalked back to the Slytherin common room, pushing past people. I threw my bag at my bed, books flying everywhere. I ran my fingers threw my hair. I didn’t know if I was mad, sad, or in love. I just took my wand and went back to care of magical creatures, my next class…with Penny.
