You can take this any way you please. You could take it literally or metaphorically. I personally think this has a metaphorical meaning.
Some experiences you have can change your life drastically. Whether positive or negative, it doesn't matter. Still, we have to look past the bad in every situation and see a little good. Everyone has a little good in them. Their heart has to soften at something.
I know I know, some people just seem pure evil. I've met those kinds of people. Those kinds of people changed my life; positively or negatively, I won't tell you. LOL.
Learn to take life one step at a time, and live it your way. When you grow old and your sitting on your front porch swing thinking about your life, you'll be glad you were able to see the good in everything and be the best version of you.
Sometimes we have to suffer bad times to enjoy good times. Pounce on every opportunity to help others.
