Chapter 8
-Corey-
~ The Great World of Eilimintí is dominated and governed by the Three Kingdoms, namely the Air Kingdom, the Fire Kingdom, and the Water Kingdom. Each kingdom represents an element of nature.
Although as Nature dictates, the different elements do have past grudges and clashes among their people, the Kingdoms do also live in peace with one another.
It is common knowledge that the Aeir (People of the Air Kingdom) live up in the boundless sky, while the Dóiteáin (People of the Fire Kingdom) and the Uisce (People of the Water Kingdom), each occupy half of the ground’s surface of Eilimintí.
Each Kingdom is ruled by its King and Queen. The crown is usually passed to the first-born prince or princess, unless circumstances proved otherwise. ~
I dragged my eyes away from the page and lifted my head up, closing the book. A brief introduction about the other world… The world Arden came from. Sensing his gaze on me, I met his eyes, my fingers trailing up the spine of the book. For awhile, we were both quiet.
“So… if I’m not wrong, you’re a…” I hurriedly open the book and flipped to the page. “Dóiteáin.” I was sure I pronounced the word wrongly.
“It’s pronounced as doe-it-awe-in.” His lips twitched. “Aeir is pronounced as ayr and Uisce is pronounces as ish-ka.”
I mumbled the words to myself, trying to remember them. I nodded after I was sure I could remember them, flipping through the pages until something caught my eye.
~ The Dóiteáin are known for their passion and their unmistakable demanding aura, much rather like what their name suggests.
The Uisce are the opposite of the Dóiteáin. They are soft and gentle, but at the same time, cunning and sly.
The Aeir are the most peace-loving. Because they live in the sky, the scuffles of whatever happens below them are not of their concern. They come and go as quickly and silently as though borne by air itself. ~
I drank in the words, digesting them.
“Can I borrow this book?” I asked Arden.
“Of course.” He replied simply. I traced my finger over the title.
E…
“So who were those people just now?” I could not take the silence.
“The Prince of the WaterKingdom and the man with the sword is Destas. He is a skilled swordsman. A Uisce.” There was no hesitation this time.
My brow wrinkled. If that really was the Prince of the WaterKingdom, then what were they doing here? I took in Arden’s features. Is Arden someone important?
I…
“Who are you exactly?” I asked, anticipating the answer and yet almost fearful at the same time.
