Peter and Hogarth later arrived at their house without saying a word except for "School was great". They later sat down on the table and ate dinner. After dinner, the Unum family went to "Brooklyn's Gelato", a gelato maker, for dessert. Peter ordered strawberry flavored, Hogarth ordered banana flavored, Mr and Mrs. Unum ordered chocolate chip, and Cassidy also ordered banana. "Bananas taste very good, Peter." Cassidy, who is sitting across from Peter on a booth, said. "You should have some someday." "Cassidy, you know I hate bananas!" Peter snapped. "Especially when it's in gelato!" Does it even make any sense that Peter, or anyone in general, doesn't like bananas??? Hogarth thought. Honestly, Peter needs to get more sleep... "Whatever, bro." Cassidy said calmly. "It's your choice. Not mine." Yes. Peter thought. Yes, it is. "Peter?" Mr. Unum said, getting Peter's attention. "You and I need to have a talk. Right now." Peter started sweating with fear. "All three of you know what came in the mail a few weeks ago, right?" "The Lycan-envelopes?" Peter asked. Lycan-envelopes are red envelopes with wolf symbols on the back. The symbols were taken from the Hourglass symbol. The envelopes tell you if you're going to be picked up by the A&O Squadron for the hourglass or not. "We're all blessed to live another month of staying alive." Mr. Unum continued. "That is why we're all here today. We're here because we're celebrating our 48th month alive in this world. You kids should be grateful that we're alive today. And, we both know that you're always grateful." "Thanks, Dad." Hogarth said, his mouth full. "I am honored to stay alive on this very day. Especially with my sis and my bro." "Be still, my heart." Peter said sarcastically. Hogarth gave Peter a friendly push on his shoulder. "Nice to see your gratefulness." Hogarth said, also sarcastic. "But, we can't celebrate TOO soon." Peter said, gaining everyone's attention. "Don't we need a place to stay, Dad? I mean, tomorrow is....the inauguration of the Hourglass." "Well..." Mr. Unum said. "We'll have to stay in our basement. That's usually our only option. We can't leave America, we can't hide in fallout shelters, and we can't use master locks. Just normal locks." "That isn't fair..." Cassidy mumbled. "We always hide there instead of fallout shelters and the megacorporation isn't being fair to us!" Peter snapped. "They're treating us like toys as well as lycan food! And, since we can't leave the country, we're also PRISONERS!! We need to find a better way to enjoy life..." "We have lives?" Hogarth asked. "Gee, I never knew such information." "Not funny, Hogarth." Cassidy said, annoyed. "Not funny at all." "Come on, C." Hogarth said. "YOUR jokes are worse than mine." "I don't even TELL jokes!" Cassidy exclaimed. "But, if I DID, MY jokes would be much...!" "All right, that's enough." Mrs. Unum said sternly. "Finish your gelato so we can get going."

Later...

The Unum family drove away from the gelato restaurant and, by the time they returned home, it got dark. Mrs. Unum said that everyone is gonna sleep in the basement again. The basement door is in the kitchen, which has a refrigerator in between the stove and the white sink, brown drawer, and has a cabinet over it, all on the right side of the room. A table sits in the middle of the room. On the left of the kitchen are two doors: The basement and the pantry. The staircase that leads goes upstairs is in between the kitchen and the living room. Mrs. Unum bought everyone sleeping bags, enough food to last them a whole year, Lycanlocks (Locks made by the megacorporation), and a small refrigerator. "And, one more thing," Mr. Unum said. "Do NOT leave the basement for any reason! I know I've told you this before, but I'm just reminding you. You hear me, kids?" "Yes, Dad." Peter said, yawning. "I won't leave you for any reason. Not even to use a clean bathroom." The Unums have a bathroom in their basement, but it hasn't been cleaned up for years. Although, the plumbing in there still works. DING-DONG! DING-DONG! The grandfather clock in the living room rang. "The clock is ringing." Hogarth said. "The Hourglass begins in 4 hours." "Do we have everything?" Cassidy asked. "Our food, the refrigerator, everything?" "Everything." Peter responded. "We're ready for this event to come." "Let's get in the basement, everyone." Mr. Unum said. "The Hourglass starts in a few hours. We can't let our guard down." "Yes, Dad." The kids said. Mr. Unum opened the door and the family walked into the basement. Mr. Unum closed the door behind them and locked it with Lycanlocks. The basement may have a dirty bathroom, but the basement itself is more of a hotel room than the city dump. It has 3 king-sized beds on both the left and right sides of the room. At the end of the room is the bathroom door and the walls have wallpaper with Hourglass symbols, a lamp on the far left corner, and a flatscreen television connected to the right wall. "I call the middle bed!" Hogarth exclaimed. "Uhhhhh." Peter said. "Welllllll, I already asked for it, so...." "No, you didn't." Cassidy said. "You said that you were gonna..." "Okaaaaay! Let's just be quiet and make a decision!" Peter interrupted. "That's enough!" Mr. Unum snapped. "Hogarth gets the middle bed, Peter. You'll sleep on the right bed." He pointed at the right bed on the left side of the basement. I'll take what I can get, I guess. Peter thought. But......I wish I had time to invite Sarah...
