Chapter 3

Despite everything that happened in the boiler room the next few days were pretty much the same, he continued to silently stalk me from when I left the house in the morning until I got home. So, when I left the house this morning and didn't see him on the way to school to say I was worried was an understatement. When I reached the school Rachel and Darrel were outside arguing.

"Hey guys, what's up?" I questioned as I joined them.

"We need to talk." Darrel started.

"No, we don't she's fine." Rachel glared at him with her hands on her hips defensively. I put my hand on her arm.

"What is it Darrel?"

"Julia, I'm worried about you. You were so full of life and now suddenly you just wander around  like a ghost with that guy following you around everywhere." Darrel spoke softly like he always did when he was on a touchy subject. "I think you need to start looking for your mate again, Julia."

"She's fine Darrel. She was never here, always exhausted from the nightmares, and obsessed." Rachel injected.

"Rachel, you are my love and life. Can you honestly tell me you wouldn't want that for Julia so you could keep her around more?" I watched them horrified as they continued to argue.

Before I could stop myself I blurted out. "I found my mate." They both turned to me shocked. Rachel started to bounce up and down until I continued. "I rejected him."

"YOU DID WHAT?!" They yelled at me angrily.

"How could you not tell me?" Rachel asked hurt the same time Darrel spoke.

"Why the fuck would you do that?!"

"Look I'm not explaining it to you and I hope you don't tell anyone else. I just can't stand you two fighting." I said honestly. They both looked at me flabbergasted. Luckily, bell rang and I went to class before they were able to interrogate me. Neither one of them talked to me for the rest of the day, they probably weren't sure what to say. They both know when I set my mind to something that it was almost impossible to change.

With Cody giving me space I had more time to think about him as weird as it sounds. I decided that next time I saw him I'd tell him everything. He deserved that much after trying so hard right?

I was on my way home from picking up dinner when I smelt it. "Mate"  My wolf sang. I followed the scent to him. Good, now I can tell him and maybe we can figure a way to make this actually work, I thought as I rounded the corner. I dropped the pizzas and let out a growl. My mate and some slutty girl he was currently fondling snapped their heads toward me. I spun around on my heels and headed towards the woods as my wolf howled in pain.

"Hey where are you going?" I heard the disgruntled girl complain.

"Hey wait." I heard him call jogging after me. I shifted into my gray and white wolf the moment I hit the trees. I fucking believed him, I thought as my wolf let out a painfilled howl. I let her take over knowing she had to be hurting. He told me he was a player, that should of told me what to expect I thought angrily. I jumped over a fallen log into a clearing. Eventually, I tired out and laid in the feild exhausted listening to the forest.

When I heard the sound of paws I let out a warning growl. The intruder stepped out of the trees and I bared my fangs at the brown wolf. They backed up and I could hear them shift.

"Hey I'm a guest of the pack. Sorry for the scare." Dylan, Cody's Beta spoke calmly hand raised. " I'm just looking for a girl named Julia." He continued when I didn't stand down. "Well then I take it your Julia." I snapped at him as a warning. He pulled off his shirt and dropped it on the ground. "Mind if we talk?" I gave him the best skeptical look and he smiled. "I'm turning around promise I won't peek." He claimed. I watched him for a second before shifting and putting on his shirt. "Well your not nearly as difficult as Cody claims."

"Yea well your not as bossy." I snapped.

"True..." He said thoughtfully turning around. "But I'm also not your mate, though maybe that's the point." I didn't know what it was about him, but I instantly knew we were going to be best friends." My names Dylan by the way." He held out his hand and I shook it.

"Julia, but you know that." I smiled.

"Well Julia, I'm suppose to drag you back to Cody." He saw the look I gave him and laughed. "Don't worry I'm not going to. Just don't tell Cody I found you okay?" I smiled and laid back down in the grass.

"So why aren't you taking me to him?"

"Do you want to go?" He questioned. I shook my head no. "Exactly and forcing you won't make you want to be his mate or my Luna any faster." He said sitting next to me. "He is sorry though. I'm not making excuses for him, but I thought you should at least know that."

"Well good." I huffed angrily thinking of that girl all over him.

Dylan laughed. "So what are you doing out here?" He asked.

"Thinking how stupid I am." I muttered. He gave me a curious look and I sighed. "I was planning on explaining why I reject him when I ran into him.... them." I explained.

"Well shit."

"Yea, well he can keep on wondering now for all I care. I was actually starting to feel bad." I huffed.

"Don't." He said.

"Don't what?" I asked bewildered at the intense look he was giving me.

"Don't feel bad and don't make it easy." He answered cynically. "Look Cody's like a brother to me and is my best friend so I'd never tell you to hurt him. But if I were in your shoes and saw that I'd of murdered him, the guy not my mate. So since you didn't don't go easy on him."

"Why?"I asked.

"Because if you play it right, he'll respect you more as a mate and a person for standing up to him. Also he's to pig headed to stop trying and you don't seem like a bitch, so I'm sure you two will work it out."

I laughed so hard my sides hurt. "He does seem pig headed."

"Yea, he told me how he stalked you around this whole week. I was like what is wrong with you let the girl breathe!" He said it exaggeratedly. "Ah there we go. I was hoping I could cheer you up." We spent the rest of the night with him telling me funny stories about their pack and comparing stories about our searches for our mates.
