Halsey - Control.

~*~

The music was loud as Maya and I sauntered through the mansion, the DJ playing 'The Shape Of You'. Sweaty bodies were grinding against each other, girls wearing barely anything to cover their asss.

I brushed past those grinding bodies while my fingers were interlaced with Maya's. Tyler's touch on me still lingered and my heart rate was in the process of trying to slow itself down.

I needed a drink.

"Maya, let's find the girls after we have a drink!" I called to her over the loud music.

She glanced back at me with pursed her lips, nodding as she gave me a once over, probably realizing that yes, I did need a drink. Especially if I was going to be inside the dragon's lair tonight.

People made way for us as we moved our bodies to the music on the way to the kitchen, the bass vibrating through the floor as strobe lights flickered to the music, flashing different colors all over the walls.

Maya held one hand while the other tried desperately to pull my mini skirt down in the back so I wouldn't flash anyone, but as the night progressed, I knew flashing someone was inevitable. I at least wanted to do that when I was trashed, and not sober.

"Jade! Maya!" A voice picked up over the music. I turned, halting Maya's movements with a tug to her hand and looked down at the girl who had called to us.

"Hey." I gave a her a once over and knew that I knew her, but I couldn't remember her name for the life of me. I knew she went to our school though.

The petite brunette with the floral dress looked expectantly at me as I tried to remember her name. I wasn't even sure why she had stopped us.

"Do we know you?" Maya raised a brow and the girl's smile deflated as she glanced back at me.

"I - I'm Hailey. I have calculus with you guys." She darted her eyes from me to Maya, her smile was tight as embarrassment washed over her cheeks.

I elbowed Maya for being rude and smiled slightly down at Hailey. "Um. It's good to see you here, Hailey. Hope you have fun."

Her face lit up like the fourth of July as she nodded profusely. "I hope you guys have fun too! It's good to see you, you look so gorgeous, Jade!" She gave me one more heart felt smile before waving meekly as I turned toward Maya, trying to conceal my amusement.

She rolled her eyes. "For heaven's sake. How many followers do you actually have?" Her exasperated sigh was followed by a smirk.

"If you told me two years ago, that you'd be the most popular girl at school and every girl wanted to just be able to have the chance to talk to you, I'd call you a big fat liar." She chuckled, locking her pinky finger with mine.

"You and me both, Mye, but they love you too, ya know." I held back the smirk that wanted to grace my lips. "But you don't have to be all rude." I bobbed my neck as I spoke and she burst out laughing.

I never was sure when the dynamic at school had changed. Somehow over the years, I became one of the most popular girls at school, dragging Maya, Tess, and Eve along for the ride. Tess was already known by being Tyler's cousin, but she didn't become an 'A-lister' until we became friends.

I don't even know why or how it happened. It was never my intention, I just changed my looks and started partying. The next thing I know, the whole school was talking about us and we started getting invites to all the cool parties, even low-key soirees.
