Liam found himself sat on his sofa at 7 o'clock that afternoon, waiting patiently for Niall. He was dressed in a pair of black jeans and a smart polo shirt, his hair gelled to the side. He cleared his throat when Niall came down and their eyes met.

For once, there was a small ray of hope in Nialls eyes. A ray of hope that made Niall smile a little and it was enough to make Liam happy. Niall was dressed in a similar sense; black jeans and a button down pale blue shirt. "Thank you for doing this, Liam." Niall spoke and Liam smiled.

"Whatever makes you happy, babe." Liam smiled back, squeezing his thigh. Niall blushed and looked down, fiddling with his hands. The doorbell suddenly rang and both Liam and Niall stood up to get it. When Liam opened the door, Ellis stood before them. Her hair was brown and wavy with matching large brown eyes. Her ever-growing stomach was hidden under a plain cotton black dress and woollen tights, a large duffle coat to keep her warm.

A man stood by her side; quite on the pudgy side and dressed in a shirt and tie with grey hair. Niall guessed he was her lawyer, or something along those lines. "Hi, I'm Ellis. We spoke over the phone? You must be Niall." Ellis smiled, holding it out for Niall to shake, which he did. Liam did the same after introducing himself and they brought them both into the living room.

"Would you like any tea or coffee?" Liam offered and Ellis looked up. "Water is fine, thank you." She replied politely and Liam nodded, silently relieved that he didn't have to go through the bother in making one. "Would you like anything, sir?" Liam offered the man.

"Mr Cole. And no thank you, I just had dinner before I came." He explained and Liam nodded again, taking a seat next to Niall on the sofa. "I have to say, I'm honoured that you found me, Niall. I was surprised to get the call from Harry." Ellis beamed and Niall chuckled.

"I'm honoured that you're here. I really hope you pick us." Niall admitted and Ellis smiled. "You have a lovely home. And a lovely husband, I see." She added, smiling fondly at Liam who blushed. "I'm flattered, Ellis." Liam jokes and Ellis giggled.

"Anyway, I suppose you'd like to know a little about myself?" Ellis suggested and Niall nodded eagerly. It was safe to know a little about Ellis' background, in case they get the wrong idea about the child they were going to raise.

"Well, as you may or may not know, I grew up in Cheshire alongside Harry. He was a sweetheart. Still is. Anyway, our neighbours were friends with each other and went way back and I guess Harry and I are what you call using the term "close family friends". After school, I went to college to study business and administration and there, I met a guy who I worked for. Professionally, of course. We hitted off really well and one thing led to another, and...It happened. At one Christmas party, I was stupid enough to get knocked up by him." Ellis explained and Niall frowned.

"Is that why you don't want the baby?" Niall frowned and Ellis' eyes widened. "No! No, of course I want the baby, but- it's complicated. The guy's a lot older than me and my parents don't approve. He's not a family guy anyway and he's certainly not my type." Ellis replied and Niall nodded.

"How much older?"

"There's a ten years age difference. I'm twenty, here's thirty. Some people might not think that's bad, my parents come from a wealthy background and they're very strict about these kind of things." Ellis sniffed feebly and Niall smiled sympathetically.

Niall and Liam exchanged glances, unsure of what to say. "Niall, I'd just like to say. I'm sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what it must be like to lose your unborn child." Ellis spoke sadly and at that, Nialls head snapped up. His heart was his mouth at her words and Liam gulped, pressing a reassuring hand on his thigh and squeezing it tightly.
