"Don't be nervous Mia, you look absolutely radiant. I know it's daunting, but try to relax hun, you look amazing." Harper was reassuring me again.
I was more nervous tonight than I had been during the photo shoot. Tonight I would be modelling in front of a room full of strangers, important strangers, who no doubt would be scrutinising me as much as Harper's designs.
"I'll see you out there okay?"
Harper gave me a hug as she went back out to take her seat.
Jay had been reassuring me all day and his words replayed through my mind now.
'You're going to be amazing Mia. Do you know why? Because you are amazing. Me and the little one have no doubt that you can do this.' He rested his hand on my belly and smiled. 'You'll be great mummy, I'll be with you the whole time.'
I blinked away the tears. Again!
Jay was in love with this baby, our baby and I couldn't have been happier.
I took a deep breath and walked out onto the stage when it was my turn. The bright lights focussed on me made it difficult to see anyone, but I could feel Jays presence.
I could feel his encouragement, his love and his pride as he watched me and our little one model Harper's amazing creations.
I was last. I would be the one that people remembered most as I donned the gorgeous black dress.
I walked down the runway, a smile plastered on my face as I realised it was nearly over. All I had to do was walk back and off the stage and I could go home with Jay.
I faltered when I saw him, my eyes gratefully scanning his body in his well fitting black suit. It hugged his body perfectly and instead of wondering why he was there, I naturally gravitated towards him.
He held his hand towards me and I grasped it without hesitation, leaning into his chest without another thought. Inhaling his scent as it washed over me and calmed me.
Harper was beside us and she quickly squeezed my hand and kissed my cheek.
"You did great Mia." She whispered before raising the microphone.
"Are you okay?" Jay whispered and I nodded in response.
"That was fucking terrifying though."
I quickly spun around as I heard my voice echo through the room and the laughter and applause that followed.
"Welcome ladies and gentlemen. I'd like to introduce you to Mia Campbell and Jay Williams."
I hid my face against Jays chest and he chuckled before turning me to face the non visible crowd.
"For those of you who don't know, Mia and Jay wandered into my London store one day looking for something for Mia to wear to a wedding. I had a few designs that hadn't yet been released and they just screamed 'Mia'."
Harper waited a moment before continuing.
"The dresses were everything she was. Sexy but refined, pure yet exciting; and just plain beautiful. Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to the woman who inspired my designs tonight. The beautiful woman who I am so privileged to call a friend. The face behind the 'Mia Collection'."
I clung to Jay as the room erupted with deafening applause. Harper hugged me tight and I tried to thank her for her beautiful words, but my throat was too constricted with emotion.
She nodded her understanding, her eyes shining brightly as she looked between Jay and I.
I looked up to Jays smiling face, my emotions calming as I took comfort in his bright green eyes.
"You did good."
I nodded and let out a small laugh.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Damien approach and wrap a protective arm around Harper.
"Mia, you made me so proud tonight. You make me proud every night. You are without a doubt the most selfless and giving person I have ever met."
I swallowed hard as I wondered what he was doing. The room was completely silent.
"You are the woman I want to have beside me, the woman I want to have carry and raise my children. As primitive as that sounds." He added and I laughed.
So did the rest of the room, but before I could look around, Jay grasped my chin.
"Mia Campbell, I love you more than I've ever loved anyone. You are my luck, fate, destiny; my everything and you make me happier than I ever thought I could be. Will this one little, and I mean tiny little, accounts clerk from Melbourne...marry me?"
He dropped to one knee and I swear my heart stopped beating and I suddenly thought that couldn't be good for our little one.
"You want to marry me?" I whispered.
"Yes Mia. I want to marry you. I want you by my side every step I take. I need you beside me. I don't function when we're apart. I love you more than life itself."
There was a loud silence as I tried to compose myself enough to speak.
"I love you more than I ever thought possible Jay Williams. I can't imagine my life without you by my side, so yes. Yes, I'll marry you."
Jay slipped a ring over my promise ring.
"I've already given you my promise baby, this ring seals it and the next...the next will be sitting on your finger as soon as you'll let it."
I nodded as I pulled him up and we wrapped our arms around each other, the applause of strangers ringing in our ears.
"Congratulations." Harper squealed as her and Damien wrapped us up in a group hug.
"Did that just happen?"
I looked into Jays eyes when we'd made it back stage.
"Yes baby, that just happened."
As if on cue, I heard squeals behind me and turned to see Megan rushing at me. As she squeezed me tight, I saw Rob and Cam behind her, their smiles as bright as mine.
We hugged, we kissed, we smiled and then I had another surprise. Strong arms turned me and I was looking into the warm, comforting smile that belonged to Carlos.
"Oh my god, you're kidding me."
I squealed as I threw myself into his arms, the tears I'd held at bay now came rushing out.
"Carlos? Oh god, it's so good to see you."
He laughed as he hugged me back.
"You looked amazing out there Mia, a real fucking pro. You did me proud."
I had developed a close bond with Carlos over the few days we'd spent together in London and his words touched me deeply.
"Careful Mia, your fiancé is giving me the evil eye. Congratulations babe, I know you'll be happy."
Jay laughed as he took my hand and man hugged Carlos.
"I'm so glad you could be here mate. I know Mia has a crush on you..."
He laughed when I elbowed him.
No, honestly mate. I'm really glad you could make it. For both of us."
"Wait." I suddenly spoke. "How long have you had this planned?
Jay looked sheepish before he replied.
"I spoke to Harper before you came for the fittings and asked her to let me know as soon as she had a date for the show. It was just a waiting game Mia. Although there was that little curve ball."
He winced at the memory.
