Man had held with them, a most devastating history. With their superior intelligence over the other beings with whom they shared the world, Man had sought to monopolise their home planet and had consequently brought the land into jeopardy. They had fought against all systems put in place to keep their population in check; disease, disaster, food and shelter availabilty. They had even been blessed without any natural predators.

With all of these in place, Man spiralled out of control and their burdens on the planet brought it to the brink of destruction. In one desperate, final attempt of regaining its lost equilibrium, the universe created an indispensable force which would ascend to the throne at the top of the food chain; Man's natural predators.

The Deities were formed, each from one the core elements on which everything had been built;

•Ignis of the Fire

•Aqua of the Water

•The twins, Terra and Vita of Earth & Nature

•Crystallos of the Ice

•Ventus of the Wind

•Fulgur of the Lightning

•Umbra of the Shadow

•Lumen of the Light

•Tenebrae of the Darkness

These beings were sent to wreck havoc on the humans whom had stepped out of line for thousands of years and dared to try their hands at playing God. A bloody war was waged as the humans were unwilling to part with their lives so easily but nevertheless many were lost despite their resilience as a race.

After a long century, the Deities had surrendered to Mankind. In the long years that they had experienced the world, the Deities had themselves begun to develop something which changed their very foundation as the universe's mindless, bloodthirsty, perfect predators and it's ultimate weapon to fight mankind.

The Deities had developed feelings towards all creation, including Man. They began to regret and rue their actions until that point. As they continued to evolve, they eventually gained a conscience and thus began to question their existances and purpose.

On a majority vote, the Deities had bowed in repentence to Man. They ceased the meaningless bloodshed that had forced upon them. Unable to fully right the wrongs they had committed, the Deities granted Man that which they held most dear. They granted the control over the elements.

Not all of the Deities were on board with the idea of reconciliation however. One in particular abhored the idea of pleading forgiveness from those he deemed lesser beings. On the day of the union of Man and Deity, a great calamity occurred.

Tenebrae had joined his fellow Deities under the pretense of agreeing to Man's terms. Once they had arrived, he slaughtered the humans in front of his horrified allies.

Using the fallen blood as a sacrifice, he made a final plea to the universe to hear his voice. He called upon the very powers which held the universe together in balance to see the failings of the other Deities whom could not complete their one given task.

The Deites represented the elements which formed the fabric of the universe. However much like fabric today, without the thread to hold it together, it would fall apart into nothing more than textile fibres.

Recognising Tenebrae's words as the truth, two beings emerged from the depths of space and time;

•Yang, the Positive, Good and Holy

•Yin, the Negative, Evil and Unholy

Yin and Yang held unspeakable power and strength, never before seen by any living being. At the wave of a hand, they could tear apart space itself. Tenebrae joined their forces against Mankind and his former allies.

The remaining Deities had no choice but to stand up against these formiddable beings; whom were essentially their very parents. Standing alongside the newly empowered armies of the humans, they resisted Yin, Yang and Tenebrae for over a decade tirelessly.

Finally in their most desperate hour, the Elemental Deities unleashed their most dreadful offense. Combining together, they forced a strike so powerful that it shattered their very physical bodies. In their final breaths, they sealed away their weakened adversaries into the heart of the universe. Tenebrae, resistant till the very end, used his last ounce of strength to send forth his corruption into the land. Some of the humans were transformed into beasts and demons while others into angels and the supernatural through Lumen's influence.

Before the Deities had completely dissipated, they left one final gift to Man. A woman whom Ventus had courted now bore his child, and with the blessing of all of the Deities, he was granted the name Zephyrus. Unbeknownst to them however, he had been cursed by Tenebrae to carry the sins, demons and corruption of Darkness within him for all eternity, which was to be passed on to his children and theirs after that in a never ending cycle of misery.

Yin and Yang had gone further to place their mark on all of the humanoid races having them fall into inner conflict with the voices of good and bad waging war within them.

Zephyrus had grown and founded the only family on the land to produce children capable of any one of the Elemental Powers, the Mara Clan. Despite having all of the Deities blessings, he was unable to wield all of their powers as they had hoped which meant he could not ascend to the throne of the Almighty and Omnipotent being which man has come to call God.

Although it had been a shame, it is partly thanks to him as my ancestor, that I was able to acquire my current ability, strength and prowess. I guess I should pay my respects to him to some degree. The fate of my entire family now rests in the palm of me and my children. From this day forth, we shall adopt a new title to remove any evidence of me being a part of this family at one point. But what could I possibly rename an entire Clan to?

Ah! I know. Zephyrus toiled to establish this entire family under the surname which he was born with, so perhaps I should use his personal name so as to preserve his legacy. Yes. From this day forth this family.... this Clan will be known as Zephyr.
