Facts: -He plays guitar -James is 19 -Toured with Shawn Mendes on his North American leg of his your in the summer of 2016 -He's from the UK 🇬🇧 -He learned to play the guitar at age 12 -Two of his musics biggest influences are John Mayor+Ed Sheeran - He in named after James Taylor -On Spotify he has almost 4 million monthly listeners -James has out 9 songs (as of January 21st 2017) -Self proclaimed Sportscar enthusiast -Loves basketball
Where he started "James grew up in a small English village two hours outside of London. His father, who plays guitar in a wedding band as a hobby, came home one day to find James banging on the drum kit. Shortly thereafter, the band's drummer wasn't able to make it to a show. "It was either let the ten-year-old play or cancel the gig," James remembers. "So they let me play and I just fell in love with performing."
Since that day, James' passion for music has grown exponentially. Naturally gifted, he picked up guitar when he was 12 years old and began playing piano the following year. As James honed his skills as a multi-instrumentalist, he began to post cover songs on YouTube. His videos showcase an undeniable talent with immense technical aptitude and a voracious will to learn. "I would like to be received as a serious musician," he says. "That's really important to me."
Personal opinion I first looked up "James TW" into my search browser while I was on a train on the way to A Shawn Mendes concert, which he was the opening act at. I wanted to familiarize myself with the artist before hand so I wasn't standing around like an awkward loser during this performance. Overall I was really impressed not only by his music by his personality. When he's onstage he has this aura, it's like you can tell how happy he is to be there preforming to his fans. I think he realized pretty quickly how huge the ACC in Toronto is because after the first song or two, it's like he turned up his energy because he was singing louder and laughing and clapping and had a wonderful stage presence. His song writing is impeccable. His songs are practically dripping with wisdom, which is impressive for a 19 year old. His voice resembles a mix of all the 1D boys, similar to Shawn mendes, and same musical style and Ed Sheeran and Shawn. I'm very excited for his new music to come out!
