James and Thomas had four weeks until their project was due- a whopping four weeks.

"We could building a whole stage play thing. Stars everywhere, the planets in line, hanging from the ceiling." He suggested. Thomas bit his lip.

"No- it's too... sloppy. I want this to be huge. I want to be remembered." Thomas said. James nodded, understanding.

"Well- we could write a song. I'll make the music. You can rap and sing it." James suggested.

"No- dude, I don't sing. In any way." Thomas said.

"I hear you in the shower. We're only a thin wall apart when you're in the shower." James said. Thomas turned bright red.

The things he'd done in the shower...

"Okay... but you've got to help me write it. If we even do that."

The pair set to work, James creating a slow opening rift. His brain flashed with imagines and inspiration.

The room was filled with stars. As they all moved into place, a single chord filled the air. The perfect consonance, the choir of the four strings becoming one. Once everything is in place, the planets begin to circle around the sun. The music stays the same pace, becoming slightly higher in pitch. It zooms in on mercury. A fast pace song is this planets them, filled with quick changes and rapid movement. As Venus creeps into view, the music changed. Venus was boiling- she was golden in color, seductive with her walk. She was slow but captivating, as she made her way around the sun. She took as long as he want to.

Then came earth.

As earth creeped into view, the Jaws theme song played. Once earth was fully in view, a series of chaotically beautiful noises came from the viola. So much happening at such a fast pace. Suddenly it all slowed, almost to a stop.

Then came mars.

Mars was red. Angry, like a burning fire. The bow moved faster than James's hands, and he almost couldn't keep up with the angry planet. Almost.

James played what he had thought of as a concept so far. He wrote everything he had down before turning to Jefferson, who was furiously scribbling on a notepad.

"Thomas." Jefferson whispered. They'd say without talking for so long that both of them nearly forgot what the other voice sounded like. They had no clue it was one am, and that their neighbors were about to call dorm patrol.

"Listen to this." He said. He began to play. The single chord filled the room, and James saw the stars and planets all surrounding him. At least- he felt like he did.

Jefferson watched as Thomas lured his heart into the first few bits of this song. His eyes were closed for most of it, his tongue poking out of his mouth. Jefferson listened in awe as James played the intricate piece.

"Holy hell." Was all Thomas had to say to make James blushed.

"I like I. I think it's like a description of the nine planets, and I'll add the last five in later." James said. He put his viola away and with all of his other stuff in the corner before going to join Jefferson over their shared desk. They had to share a seat, James sitting beside Thomas, and they both nearly fell off the seat.

Would be easier if he were in my lap, Thomas tried not to think.

Would be easier if I were in his lap, James let himself think.

The two red over what Thomas had so far.

It was really nice- it just needed a melody with it.

"I'm thinking that if you begin by talking and you start to get faster and faster until you're rapping, it'd sound nice." James commented. Thomas agreed.

Thomas had a separate notebook set aside.

"And this one?" James asked.

"Well- I kept having ideas for lyrics but they were all about love. So I just jotted them down to the side." He blushed.

"I understand." James nodded.

When you look into the sky's, on a night in which no one is around, in a field in which you're all alone with the monster we humans call, 'thoughts', there is only one thing watching over you.

That would be the night sky. The stars, the planets, all coming together to protect you. They see everything. They're always there- very rarely are the sky's destitute, bare.

It didn't rhyme much yet, as it was just being spoken. The beat would begin shortly after.

The stars will always be there.
See here?
We've got the Big Dipper, and little  dipper, the seven sisters, swinging bright in a sick and beautiful tongue twister.

You've got your planets coming into view, and oh, wait till you see what these planets can do.

Mercury- hot as hell, well, hotter than hell, closest to the sun, 88 days around that star and then it's done. This little guy makes gods bow down to him, and he's not afraid of you, so go ahead, come at him boo.

Then you see your Venus stalking into view- the goddess she is, glowing golden in her dress. She's a hot mess, beautiful nonetheless. Don't get me wrong she's always someone you'd wanna mess... hah,

Uh oh, here comes the trouble, the earth is coming through and, like usual, he's the center of attention. Too busy for the others, he walks all alone, but sometimes forgets what it's like to have someone with him, in that zone. The moon trails along, a groupie, some would say. The earth just keeps moving, spinning away.

Thomas blushed.

"I feel like it's really cheesy. I need to clean it, a lot." He said. He didn't have anything else written, but James liked what he had.

"Yeah- it's amazing. That's such amazing progress- Thomas, you're actually really good at freestyle. I know that that's a rough draft but that's really good." James said. Thomas just shrugged.

"I just hope it's enough to get us an A." Thomas claimed. James nodded, agreeing.

The two put everything up and turned off the lights, changing quickly.

"Goodnight, James." Thomas said, climbing in bed.

"Goodnight. Sleep well." James said quietly, rolling over and curling into a ball so he could sleep.
