Sorry it took so long, but hopefully, the quality makes up for the time.
I had a maths exam this week, so that's why it took me so long, sorry!
“I just want to say that I can’t thank you enough for saving my life,” said Ethan. “I can’t imagine what Zayn would have done to me if you didn’t persuade him to let me live.”
“You shouldn’t thank me, young Redfern. You should thank Evelyn. She’s the reason that why your life is so important to me and Harry,” Venice replied, her eyes gazing past Ethan’s shoulder.
Ethan and Venice were sitting on two separate chair by the fireplace of a small, cosy, wooden cabin just a couple of miles out of the town that Ethan and Evelyn grew up in.
There were no electricity. The only available light was from the crackling fire a few feet in front of the two.
Ethan shivered at the gradually dropping temperature as night fell upon them. He pulled his woollen jumper tighter around himself and looked over to Venice. He wondered how she could couple with the coldness; wearing only a white, sleeveless dress that fell to her ankles.
“Aren’t you cold, Lady Venice?” Ethan asked boldly.
She shook her head, smiling. “I’m half vampire, remember?” She raised a hand towards the fire, and instantaneously, the flame rose. “But I apologize if you’re cold. After all these millenniums, I’ve forgotten how fragile you humans could be.”
Ethan smiled. “Thank you Lady Venice, and if you don’t mind me asking, what am I doing here?” He looked around the cabin curiously. There weren’t anyone else in sight, and him and Venice had been sitting there in silence for over half an hour. He felt like they were waiting on someone. But who?
He didn’t known.
She smiled. “I made a contract with Zayn, promising that I wouldn’t attack the Vampire Nation if he didn’t kill you. Do you know why?”
“I protected you, to protect Evelyn. You may not realised it yet, but Evelyn's life is very valuable. And I know for sure that without you, she wouldn’t be able to continue her life.”
“And what’s that?”
“Zayn’s heart,” Venice replied. “Ethan, do you know of why I rebel against the Vampire Nation.”
“Because you want to protect the humans, you want to defend our rights, along with all other supernatural being’s rights.”
Venice smiled. “You are smart, you know that Ethan? Yes, that’s exactly why Australia exists, because it serves as a safe haven for humans and other supernatural beings Zayn decided weren’t worthy of living within his territories.”
“And you think Evelyn could change it all?”
“I don’t know, but if something bad happens to her, things may progress to a worse state than it already it.” Venice replied. “Her life is the only thing keeping Zayn from falling over the edge and give into the darkness of his soul. She’s the only one that could save him; but I fear she may lose her life along the way.”
“Can’t you protect her, cast some kind of spell on her to keep her away from Zayn, away from all of this and take her to some place where nobody knows her? Somewhere that she could be happy and not live in constant fear is him?”
Venice shook her head. “Ethan, you don’t understand. I can’t do that. it doesn’t matter what I do, Zayn will never stop searching for her, and he will find her, sooner or later. She’s his everything. The only way that she could free herself from him is to get him to learn how to let her go.”
