What to do now?
I spent most, if not my entire teen life working, I wasn't even an adult yet! I was always seeking a chance to be a part of something bigger, something where I could bring justice to those who meant to wrong this world. Villains. When I finally joined VIPER, I was so elated to be able to bring justice to those who deserved that and so much more. I completely dedicated myself to it, I refuse to let any other innocents be punished by the selfishness and conceitedness that was harbored by Villains. Because of that when I had free time, I really didn't know what to do with myself... I had to do something, something useful, that would help people.
I pulled my phone out of my back pocket, checking for messages, maybe Alex had found something, and indeed there was a message from her.
Hey Ever, I did find more on Kent, but only one other thing about James. All the information we have on James is basically just his family. It's like VIPER can't track him. I haven't gotten a chance to read what I sent, but let me tell you, I had to get past like three different firewalls, that were strangely sophisticated, to retrieve the information on James. Anyway I hope I helped you... click the link below to see the information I found.
I furrowed my brows as I clicked the instructed link. VIPER couldn't pick up any more information on James, what was he a ghost?! I sighed once more, scrolling through the information that appeared on my phone.
Holt : Kent Holt and his younger sister, Cali Holt were taken in about three years after their parents passed away in a house fire, by another Villain by the name of Aaron Marow. He cared for them for about two years until he and Kent got into a disagreement, Kent took his little sister and they both fled. We had suspicions now that they are a part of one of the many Villain gangs.
Hewson : James Hewson's older sister, Wren Abigail Hewson has been in VIPER custody for about two years now, is being held for Project 221b, CLASSIFIED INFORMATION ; only available to agents or Heroes deemed access by Director Lynch. _<OVERRIDE ACCESS>_
I froze. What the hell was all this. I was never told of a Project that we needed Villains. Confused, I went back to reread Alex's message wondering if there was something I had missed.
My eyes widened as I looked over her words, than I read them yet again, just to be sure. There was a chance Alex had hacked into a secure and secret VIPER database to get information for me. Whatever Project 221b was, I certainly wasn't supposed to know about it. But why did they need a Villain? Had VIPER taken more than just James's sister?! Wait, maybe that's why Kent and James are here... To free the Villains!
I jump to my feet, quickly dialing Alex's number. "Pick up, pick up." I mutter, holding the phone to my ear as I began to pace beside my kitchen table. What if she was already in trouble, I couldn't let Alex take the blow for my actions, I had to get her to get rid of the information.
"Hello?" Alex asks, her voice emitting from my phone. "Alex!" I exclaim in relief. "Um, hi." she answers uncertainly. "You need to listen to me very carefully." I say firmly, my strides getting faster. "Okay, but can you make it quick? Director Lynch wants to see me in like five minutes."
Shit. Did he already known?!
"Go on your laptop." I instruct, fear rising up withing my faster and faster with each second that passed. "Now do you know what database you hacked into to get me the information I asked for?" I ask. "Yep." she chirps back, oblivious of all the possible danger she could be in right now.
"Send the link to me." I say firmly. "Now delete it, erase any evidence that you were even on your laptop after I left. No one can know that you hacked into that database." "Ever, your scaring me." Alex replies uncertainly. "What's going on?!"
"Just do it." I demand. There was a pause. "Okay, it's done." I sighed heavily. Thank God. "Now will you tell me what was so important that I just wiped all the history off my computer?" She questions, sounding generally confused. "I think you broke into something you weren't even supposed to know about." I confess, tilting my head back. "Like what?!" She exclaims. "It's better if you don't know Alex, it could get you in trouble with the board." I heard her groan in exasperation before answering. "Fine, I'm trusting your judgement right now Ever."
"And I thank you for that." I reassure her. "You owe me." She retorts. I roll my eyes. "Of course." I mutter. "So what are you gonna do now?" Alex asks. "Well," I look at my watch, 6:30, I sigh. "Now, I'm gonna cancel a hot date."
"I'm really, really sorry Jase." I say over the phone to one very disappointing boyfriend. "Something came up." "It's fine." He replied, surprising me with the ease of his response. "If I wasn't okay with you being committed to your job I wouldn't have even started dating you, heck I have the same job. I admire you for being so down-to-earth and hardworking. I trust that whatever you are doing is important."
Yeah, important. Finding out more about a secret Project that even I'm not supposed to know and possible committing treason to VIPER while doing so. "Yep," I say instead. "Super important." "Pick you up tomorrow for work?" He asks. "I'll be waiting." I say, smiling softly. "Love you Ev." He says quietly. I laugh a little before responding with the usual, "I love you to."
I placed my phone onto the table and dropped my head into my hands. How did everything get so screwed up in a matter of minutes? I was lying to my boyfriend, my co-workers, and keeping things from my friend. What was next?! Working with Villains?!
I rank my hands through my hair deftly, closing my eyes as I tried to think. What could I do? Do I play it safe and tell Director Lynch that I saw the information on Project 221b? Do I just leave it alone? Or do I risk my safety and dig deeper to find out what is really happening in VIPER?
I groan in exasperation, knowing that I would go for the risk to learn more. I stood up and went to my bathroom. I needed a long, hot shower to think all the crap that was happening in my life over. I grabbed a white towel and made my way to the bathroom, hoping for at least five minutes that were not stressful, and not frustrating. Is that even possible for me?

I leaned my head back as the hot water cascaded over my body, calming me. I ran my hand through my long hair, trying to leave my mind behind and just immerse myself in the alien sense of peace that was attempting to overwhelm me.
I was jerked out of my mini form of a paradise when my phone began ringing. "Why?!" I exclaim throwing my hands in disbelief. I turned off the water and wrapped myself in a towel before grabbing my phone and answering it.
"What." I snap, irritated that I couldn't even get a moment of relaxation. "Jesus, Payne." Linc comments, sounding somewhat confused. "What the hell's up with you?" I shake my head, wringing my hair over the sink. "Just annoyed, now what do you want?" I hear him sigh, then a muffled 'thump' noise. "Yeah, give me a second." I hear Linc say. "You good?" I ask. "Yeah, yeah fine." he mutters. "Can you come down to H.Q.?" He asks. I look at my watch which was on the bathroom counter, next to the sink, 7:17. "Be there in fifteen." I say before hanging up.
Yep, no relaxation for me.
