“No, Drew did. I’m sure he took his Mum or one of his friends to help,” I laughed. “He did really well, I would’ve picked out this ring for myself.”
“It’s cute you guys know each other so well.” I wanted to laugh, because we really didn’t know each other all that well. I just smiled.
I grabbed the salad bowl and followed everyone else out to eat. We were all eating and chatting and then Anastasia came running into the backyard, tears streaming down her face. A shirtless Luke ran after her, apologizing. “I hate you! I hate you so fucking much!” She yelled.
“Anna, baby, let me explain.”
“Explain what? You fucked her, you asshole!” Drew and I shared a confused look. “I want a divorce.” Just as Anastasia said that, Violet came through the kitchen door, her hair all messy. When Anastasia saw her, she was fuming. “How dare you sleep with MY husband!”
Violet rolled her eyes, like her own husband wasn’t even watching. “He wanted to, it wasn’t like I forced him to or anything.” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, how stupid could Luke and Violet be to sleep with each other on a game show called The Newlywed Game.
Harry got up. “Violet, Babe, what’s going on?” Violet walked over to her husband and whispered something in his ear before he walked out of the backyard.
“Now you listen to me, Anastasia, you can’t talk because it’s not like you’re not sleeping around. If you are, why can’t he.”
“Violet, shut up,” Luke snapped. I felt like I was watching a movie and it had just hit its climax. “Can I please talk to you, Anastasia?” Luke practically begged. This Luke was completely different to the obnoxious and cocky Luke I had grown used to. “Alone.” I felt as if I was intruding.
“Why? Why can’t you just say whatever you want here! It’s not like you didn’t just sleep with someone on national television!”
“Anastasia,” Luke said, pleadingly. Anastasia huffed and walked inside, Luke followed her. Violet sighed and walked in after them. I was almost sure that this wasn’t the first time she fooled around with someone else’s man.
“Well that was…” My voice trailed off.
“Interesting…” Drew finished. I looked up at him and smiled. After that, we all tried to stay outside for the rest of the day, not wanting to walk into an argument. Harry seemed to be taking it all pretty well; he was out and chatting with everyone in no time. He had obviously forgiven Violet.
I felt sorry for Anastasia, I know I didn’t know them both all that well but Anastasia was a lovely girl and I couldn’t imagine her cheating on Luke with anyone – she adored him.
I was lying in bed with Drew when he asked, “Would you ever cheat on me?” I knew what he meant, he was asking me if I’d ever cheat but he couldn’t exactly say that.
