"Kellin, Kell. Wake up." I groan and stir. "Baby."

I roll over and Vic kisses down my neck.

My eyes crack open to see what he wants only for me to discover it's still dark.

"Vic? What time is it?" I groan.

"Five-thirty. Come on, I want to take you somewhere." He whispers, kissing my nose.

I sit up and rub my tired eyes.

"But sleep." I whine.

"You can sleep later. Please?" Vic pleads and I nod.

"Okay, okay, where're we going?" I mumble.

"It's a surprise." He grins. "Come on, get dressed."

I roll out of bed and blush realizing that I'm still naked. I quickly get dressed and Vic tells me to grab a jacket. I put it on and Vic comes over to me rubbing my arms and looking me up and down.

"Are you going to be warm enough? Maybe you should grab another jacket." Vic murmurs.

"Okay Mom." I say sarcastically. "Vic I'm fine."

"Okay." He whispers then kisses my nose. "I made coffee to go." He says holding up a flask.

He then takes a blanket off of my bed and looks around.

"I think we're ready to go. You okay with jumping off the balcony again?" He asks with a chuckle.

"We don't need to." I smile. "Just trust me."

I gesture for him to follow me as I leave the room and creep into my parent's bedroom where they're sleeping. I go around to the side of the bed where my mom's sleeping and I lightly shake her all the while Vic's looking at me like I'm insane. She wakes up and gives me a confused look.

"Mom, I'm sneaking out." I whisper.

"Okay honey, where're going and how long will you be gone for." She asks with a smile.

"That's a question for Vic, he's not telling me anything." I chuckle stepping to the side so Vic can talk to her.

He whispers things in her ear and she nods.

"Okay. You kids have fun. I love the both of you." She smiles.

"We love you too Mom." I murmur before kissing her cheek.

We then leave the room and soon the house, through the front door. We get into Vic's car and he drives off. I have to fight the urge to fall asleep again. I take the flask and drink some of the warm coffee. It wakes me up instantly and gives me a warm feeling.

The drive isn't long and soon enough we're pulled up in front of the school.

"Vic, what are we doing here?" I ask confused.

"I thought we should go back to the place where it all started." He smiles and gets out of the car.

I follow, holding the coffee. We go over to the fence that surrounds the school and Vic slides through the hole that had been put there a few years ago by a bunch of kids who vandalised the school. I follow him and we walk across the football field and then I realize where we're going.

It's still quite dark by the time we reach the tree and I'm internally panicking. I hate heights and climbing a tree in the dark is just a harrowing thought. There's more of a chance that I could fall.

"It's okay Kells." Vic murmurs, taking the coffee from my hands. "I'll catch you if you fall."

I give him a loving smile and kiss his cheek before I nervously start climbing the tree. I make it safely onto the platform and Vic arrives not a minute later. He gets comfortable next to me and spreads the blanket over us. He drinks some coffee before handing the flask to me.

"I wanted to watch the sunrise with you. Sorry for waking you up so early." Vic says sounding genuinely apologetic.

"Don't be sorry. I'm glad you woke me up. This is sweet." I smile resting my head against him.

"I'm glad you think so." He smiles before kissing my head.

I can see the sunlight slowing creeping up but there's no sign of the sun yet.

"Do you remember when I was helping you down from your balcony and you asked me "what if I fall?" and I said "I'd catch you"?" Vic asks and I nod remembering the moment quite clearly. "And when you came up here for the first time you were scared and I told you "it's okay, I'll catch you if you fall." Do you remember that?"

"Yeah, I remember." I murmur.

"Well, I meant that Kell. I still mean it. And I'm not just talking about heights. I'll catch you when you fall. If you're ever down, I'll pick you up. I'm always going to be here for you, always." Vic explains with so much meaning in his words that it brings tears to my eyes.

"I know Vic. Trust me, I know. You've caught me so many times already." I whisper.

I take his hand in mine and link our fingers together. Vic places a kiss on my head and squeezes my hand gently.

"I'm here for you too. I know that I've needed you a lot over the past few months but I am still here for you. Whenever you need me Vic, I'm here. All you have to do is ask. You've done so much for me so if you need anything at all, please just ask."

Vic nods and kisses me gently.

"I love you Kellin."

I smile and squeeze his hand softly.

"I love you too Vic, more than you'll ever know." I murmur.

He sighs gently as he rests his face in the crook of my neck. I look out at the sun that has now risen above the horizon.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Vic mumbles as he lifts his head and looks out at the sun.

I can hear the morning birds chirping in the trees and the rush of the morning traffic in a distant.

"You once told me that places worth going don't have shortcuts. And all this time I thought that the place that you were talking about, the place worth going, was being skinny. Then when I realised that I was skinny, I still felt like I hadn't reached my destination. I didn't feel like I was at the place I was trying to take shortcuts to. And just now I realised that place worth going wasn't being skinny, it was being happy. I realise that now because right in this moment, I feel like I've finally reached that place worth going. I'm finally happy, like truely happy." I gush and Vic listens intently. "And I feel like you had a lot to do with that."

Vic lets go of my hand and wraps his arms around me.

"You're really something Kell." He mumbles.

"Thank you Vic." I whisper.

"For what?" He asks.

"For not giving up on me." I say.

"I never will Kells." He replies.
