"DONE!" I wiped the imaginary sweat off my forhead.
I had just finished packing for college, thats right- college. No one thought I would make it this far, especially my uptight, impossible to please parents. Thats one of the reason im leaving here to go to college all the way in New Jersey. I need to get away from my so called family and my judgmental high school.
I checked my bags one last time to make sure I wasn't leaving anything behind. I had my P!ATD, Smashing pumpkins, Nirvana, Blink 182, Linkin Park, Green day, Misfits, ect. CDs. All my clothes, favorite movies, posters, pictures, my laptop, and my electric guitar and sketch books.
I love drawing, art is the only way to run away without leaving home thats why im taking art at the New Jersey School of Visual Arts.
"Jovie!!!" My mother called from downstairs. Before I grabbed my bags I looked in the mirror.
I was wearing my purple checkered skinny jeans, black combat boots, a Sleeping with the sirens tee shirt, leather jacket and my black hair was down, dyed blue at the tips and on my sweapside bangs.
"COMING!" I quickly shoved my phone in my back pocket and grabbed my suite case.
When normal 18- year olds walk downstairs to say their final goodbyes, their families are crying saying things like 'Dont go!' Or 'We'll miss you!'.
Not my family.
My dad was typing up some business papers on the laptop, and my mother was waiting impatiently at the door.
"Where are you going?" My sister asked looking up from her iPhone.
"Uh college for about three years!" A snapped.
"Oh yeah, thats today." She shrugged and continued texting.
"Come on Jovie! We do not have all day!" My mom opened the door.
"Well bye everyone." I said looking at my family.
Everyone continued what they were doing, but I did get a grunt in response from my father.
"Ug, whatever, let's go mom." My mother helped me carry my bags to the car and we buckled in, she insisted on driving me to the airport.
"Um sweetie?" She called nervously.
"Yeah." I put my feet on the dashboard.
"Are you sure you want to go through with this whole art thing?"
Here we go again.
"I mean you could always be a doctor, maybe a lawyer! You know, your sisters going to med school and-"
I quickly shove my headphones in and turn up my music.
The Rest Of Us
By: Simple Plan
'Heres to the rest of us!
To all the ones that never felt they were good enough,
I wanna hear it for the dazed and confused,
The freaks and the losers,
Lets put'em up,
Heres to the rest of us.-'
My mom pulled a phone out my ear.
"What!" I snapped.
I took the other phone out and looked up
Yup, delta airline.
We grabbed the bags and dragged them into the builing were a mass of people scattered around. I looked at my watch, 4:28 p.m, just in time.
"Well, im gonna miss you." My mom spat and forced a hug.
"Uh, yea, you to mom."
'Flight 367 to New Jersey now boarding' We heard the flight attendant over the intercom.
My mom waved to me as I boarded my plane.
I found a nice comfy seat, not first class though, and listened to some P!ATD.
I'm finally on my own.
