Jay's POV

After Nathan and his family left, I took a seat on on the couch. I set my head in my hands.

What the hell just happened?

My mind couldn't seem to process it. Nathan and I were kissing and then his dad and sister came... and I can't even begin to explain what I saw.

I sighed, lifting my head and staring around. This place was a wreck and my parents were due home soon.

Pushing aside the thoughts that were clouding my mind, I grabbed some cleaning supplies and began to tidy up the mess. It wasn't easy. It looked like a tornado had struck my living room, but somehow I managed to make it look half decent.

As I was putting away the cleaning supplies, I heard the front door swing open. "Jay, sweetie, I'm home!" My mother's sweet voice called from the door.

"I'm just in the bathroom, mum! I'll be out in a minute!" I called back, practically throwing the supplies into the open cabinet and rushing out.

My mum engulfed me in a small hug before dropping her stuff and making her way to the kitchen. I took a seat on the counter as she began to prepare dinner.

"How was your day?" She asked, focusing her eyes on the task at hand.

"It was... eventful," I answered, licking my lips nervously. I didn't want to lie to her, but how was I supposed to explain everything?

"Eventful, eh?" She said and I licked my lips nervously, "Well, I won't question you about it. Where's you friend... Nathan, was it?"

"Oh, um, he had something to, err, do. I'm not sure exactly what, he didn't explain and I didn't press him," I lied through my teeth. Mum dropped what was in her hands onto the counter and turned to face me. She studied me curiously, her hands now placed onto her hips.

"Honey, I know when you're lying to me. I just don't know why you are," she told me. I bit me lip, giving a gentle sigh. "I'm starting to think there's a lot you're not telling me."

"Mom, I... I don't even know what's really going on," I replied, rubbing my temples.

She sighed, walking over to me and removing my hands from my face. She then kissed my forehead and gave me a small smile. "It has to do with Nathan, though, doesn't it? He isn't just your friend, is he?" I gave a feeble nod and she grinned, "I don't know what he is to you, but I do want you to know that you can always talk to me."

"Okay..." I whispered, rubbing at my now burning eyes.

"You know, dinner won't be ready for another hour or so. Why don't you go for a walk and clear your mind and I'll call you when it's time to come home?" She suggested, rubbing my back gently.

"Okay..." I whispered again. I jumped off the counter and mum pulled me in for a hug.

When we pulled away, I leaned down and pecked her on the forehead. I grabbed my wallet and keys before rushing to the door. Before I left I called "Bye mum, love you!" and then I was out.

I walked around for a bit and ended up at "Cafè de la Fleur". I gave it a sad smile before walking in.

I was shocked to see the boy who had changed my life sitting at one of the tables, stirring his tea, but staring off into space. He hadn't seemed to notice me. There were a few others here as well, the place alive with chatter and joy. I walked over to the counter and greeted Annie with a smile.
