SPIRT ANIMAL CHAPTER 10 The Confessions

"I'm a princess of Eura. I lived with my mother, father, and little sister. I'm an artist and have many gymnast tricks", this stunned most of the group. Reese still spoke on," I would like for you all not to call me by a princess or treat me like one", this only surprised Meilin, but Reese could also see in Conor's eyes that this was not what he expected of her to ask.

      "A special, hidden talent of mine", she went on,"is archery. I use a compound bow. I also secretly tucked it in Lazarus's saddle."She went over to her spirit animal, pulled her large bow from under the saddle with an arrow, and loaded her weapon.
      Her bow was army green with designs of tree branches and leaves. She drew back the string after attaching her wristband and aimed. With a slight touch of her wristband, her bow released the arrow, piercing a fruit hanging from a tree.

      Once again the group was stunned and frozen. She blushed from showing the group her secret weapon.
      The show gave everyone else the courage to tell their pasts and reveal their secrets.
      After everyone had gone, she was very hesitant, but eventually said before moving on,"there's also one more thing", the group waiting for her words made her even more scared. "The thing is... Well, I...ugh", she was interrupted by Abeke. "You can tell us anything now. We are a team. You can trust us.", she told Reese, speaking for the group. 

      Reese gathered up her courage and announced, "well.. You see... My cousin... Is... Is... Devin!", she shouted.
      Everyone just stared. Nothing was said and the silence began to scare her. She saw the fear in everyone's eyes. That really terrified her; she felt a tear leaving her eye.
      She'd heard about their experience with Devin when they were seeking Rumfuss. She couldn't believe how the group would feel of her now. 

      Reese was so embarrassed about what she had just admitted to the group that she commanded Lazarus to canter away ahead of the trail.
      The group looked at each other confused and scared of what just happened. Once again Alyssa repeats her "special" question,"what now?"
      No one answered. Rollan, surprisingly said a second later concerned,"someone should go talk to her."

      No one spoke up. Alyssa was about to say something,but was interrupted by Conor. "I guess I'll go talk to her."
      Alyssa instantly knew to keep quiet. Knowing later that Reese would owe her one for not getting to go after her. She was the only who knew her secret and she knew Reese was the kind of person who'd show it, but never tell it.
      The group decided to meet up with them, walking. Conor ran with Briggan to catch up to her.

      He eventually saw Reese sitting on a rock with her head in her hands. Lazarus turned to Conor. A weird unnatural feeling came over Conor. When he saw his eyes, it was like he was speaking to him mentally. It was strange and he hesitated. After he turned back to Reese he walked toward her with Briggan close behind.
      "Hey, why did you run away?", he asked her. She looked up at him and answered looking at the ground," because Devin has given you all such hard times and to be related to someone like that, it's just hard for me to know that you'll trust me."

      She looked at him with her eyes watering from the fear. "Who cares what they think of you? You're fine the way you are. I understand admitting that was hard and our responses weren't all that great, but your not Devin. You wouldn't do any of those things to any of us. Remember you're here to help us, so how could you hurt us? Even if the others won't trust you... At least I do." She blushed so hard. How can you blush while you're so upset? She wondered.
      "Thanks", she said, "thank you for that. I really needed it." She got up out of fear and happiness to hug him.

      "Um... Your welcome",he said unsurely, but was quick to add,"I owed you for not saying I was a servant to your family, well until you told us that he was your cousin", he said chuckling.
      Reese giggled. Then suddenly, the group came from behind Reese and stopped in front of Conor. He realized they were staring at them and he blushed a bright red. He quickly pulled Reese away and said embarrassed, "okay, so we are looking for a waterfall falling on rocks into a river, correct?"

      "You mean the one right behind you?", Rollan said with the biggest smirk on his face. Even Meilin crossed her arms and her expressions were the same. Abeke and Alyssa just looked at each other. Alyssa had a devious smile, while Abeke, trying to be pleased just stared. She wasn't jealous, but got a feeling of protection of Conor. She was not liking the trip so far. After Conor left, Alyssa figured she'd tell Abeke why Reese was so shy around Conor. Abeke understood because they knew each other, but this was escalating way too fast she thought. Her friendliness wouldn't be so much friendly anymore to Reese.

      Conor instantly turned around. Reese did the same. They stared at a waterfall that they had somehow found.
      "Looks like your already helping us after all", he said shyly to Reese.
      She just smiled in response. At least she made a bond with another member of the group. She had also found the waterfall they were looking for. It seemed like having the conversation with Conor had a positive effect on her and her reputation to the group. Things would be better from now on, but could she say the same for the oncoming quests?

     "Yeah, your helping us out alright", Abeke said sassily and walked toward the waterfall with her head down.
