Piper's P.O.V.
Braxton wasn't lying when he said he was going to try to be nice. That's all he has been. He brings me flowers occasionally. Sometimes they have cards. Other times he quotes a poem. He's just the greatest.
"Looks like it's going to storm."
"Hey, Braxton. Yeah. It looks rough out there."
"Are you sure you and Tori are going to be okay until we get back? I can always get someone else to do it."
"We'll be fine. I promise. You and Charlie can go ahead and go take care of your business."
"You're sure?"
"Yes. We can take care of ourselves."
"Okay. I just hate that we won't be back until after dark. These things usually take a while."
"It's fine. If we need anything, I'll call Candace. Promise."
"Alright. I have to go now. I'll be back just as soon as I can."
"Okay. Bye."
"Bye, Piper."
Tori comes running into the room. She comes and gives Braxton a hug.
"Daddy!"
He scoops her in his arms.
"Hi, baby girl." He kisses her cheek.
"Love you."
"I love you too. I'll see you when I get back. Okay?"
"Tay."
He kisses her cheek again and then sets her on the floor. She comes over to me so I pick her up.
"Bye."
"Bye."
He walks out and meets up with Charlie. They hop in the truck and take off to wherever the hell they're going. Braxton explained what he was going to be doing, but I wasn't really listening. I was too busy admiring him.
"What do you say we go get some ice cream?"
"Yay!"
"Okay. Let's go."
I pack her outside and put her in her booster seat in my car. Once she's settled, I get in behind the wheel.
When we get to the ice cream shop, it's started to rain. It's nothing too drastic. Just a few sprinkles here and there. I'm so glad I keep an umbrella in my car.
"Ready, baby?"
"Yeah."
I grab the umbrella and Tori out of the car. I hurry inside.
"What flavor do you want?"
"Chocate."
"Come or cup?"
"Cup."
I walk up to the counter and place the order. Then I find us a booth once I get out ice cream. We're almost finished when a lady walks up to us.
"Hey."
"Hi?"
"I'm Megean, Charlie's girlfriend."
"Oh. Okay. I'm Piper."
"I know. Charlie's told me about you. I just figured I'd introduce myself since we haven't officially met."
"You can sit if you want. You don't have to rush off. I don't mind."
"Alright. Thank you."
"You're welcome."
