The boulder closed the entrance and I couldn't see Percy anymore. He looked so angry that it made me feel worried. I hoped that I could see Percy again. All the thoughts of Percy got out of my mind when the cyclops lifted me up like a doll. He held me level with his face and sniffed me. Ugh! Disgusting shit! I thought.
"Huh. That's interesting. I got myself the goddess Artemis!" He began to laugh. "Let's take you to your grand daddy eh?" He touched the wall below the rock cabinet and a glowing blue greek letter, Δ, appeared. My eyes widened when I realized what it was for. The ground below the rock cabinet opened up and I saw that there were stairs going down. "Say hello to the labyrinth, lady." I stuggled against him but he held me tightly. Then, we descended to the dark passageway.
I was in the Big House with Chiron, discussing about the current situation. I really hated sitting here and doing nothing without saving Artemis but Chiron made me stay, telling me that I was in a bad shape.
"Lord Perseus..." Chiron began to say something but I interrupted him.
"Just call me Percy. I'm sick of that 'Lord Perseus' already." I gave him a stern look.
"O-kay, P-Percy." He sounded like he had trouble getting his tongue used to saying 'Percy'. What is the big deal anyway? "So moving on, I think this matter really needs a quest." I was going to argue with him but he stopped me. "No matter what you say, this time I firmly believe that we need to start a quest." I just told him to call me Percy and he's being like this already. Gods.
"Okay." I huffed.
"We should consult the oracle first for a prophecy and then organize our plans. But I think that it would be best for you to get some rest first while I do those things." I sat up straight on my chair.
"What?! No way! How can we be like this when Artemis is in danger?! Besides, I'm a god! I don't need any rest!" I was so angry that Chiron could be like this.
"See what I mean? You're too angry to do anything. Even if you're a god, your emotions would get the best of you. You need to calm down first and focus. So get some sleep while I do the rest." He went back into centaur mode. I sighed and stood up.
"Fine. But if we are too late... You'll have to deal with me." I could feel my aura burning with power. Chiron turned pale but just nodded. I felt like it was not me, saying those words, and I felt more godly. I looked at Chiron one more time in the eyes and flashed away to my cabin.
Just as my head touched the pillow, I went to the world of Hypnos. Suddenly, I saw a maze. I knew that it was a dream but it looked too real. It was also unusual since I don't have dreams when I sleep. Then the image shifted to the top of a hill. I tried to move forward to see clearly and surprisingly, I could. As I moved forward, I saw a silhouette of a person kneeling down on the floor. Since it was dark, I couldn't see the face. Then, I heard a voice. "Are they still not here?" The voice sounded strained and it came from the person kneeling down. Strangely, the voice was so familiar but I couldn't identify it. "That cyclops is too slow. Besides you deserve this because of not getting the Fleece in time. If you did complete your mission, our tasks would be so much easier and he would have already risen by now." Another voice that was deeper and more ancient spoke. What he said, though, got my attention. "I tried but that cyclops was not easy to deal with." The familiar voice really bothered me. "Quit complaining! What we have to do now is lure that son of the earth here using the goddess and put the plan into action." My eyes widened at what he said. I wanted to tackle him and ask him where Artemis was but since it was a dream I could not do anything. Then that ancient voice spoke again. "Why do I sense an unwanted guest here..." I could feel a burning gaze on me and just then I woke up. I was sweating like crazy and breathing hard. I ran to the Big House and was relieved to find Chiron there.
"Chiron! We have to talk!" He nodded at me and I told him about my dream. His eyes widened. "We should work fast! Artemis is in grave danger! Did you consult the oracle?"
"Yes... But strangely, it just gave me this." He handed me a scroll. "I couldn't open it. I think only you can open it, when you're alone."
"Chiron..." He interrupted me.
"There is no time to waste. You don't need to report everything to me." A slight smile appeared on his face. "I know you can do it alone." I raised my eyebrow. He was not anymore bringing up the quest thing. I think the oracle told him something he didn't want to tell me.
"Okay. And by the way, ready the campers. I think there is a big war coming." I was going to turn around but I stopped. "And... Someone is going to betray us." I didn't know where that came from but I knew it was true. On that note, I went to my cabin and sat on the bed.
I didn't want to open the scroll yet because I was deep in thoughts. My head was already throbbing so badly. But then I remembered Artemis which made me grit my teeth. Without wasting even a second, I opened the golden scroll.
Just when I opened it, a small figurine materialized and floated on top of it. I grabbed it and examined it. By the look of it, it was a figurine of Hades. Just then, silver writing appeared on the scroll. On it was written a name of a place and initials and below it was a big greek letter, Δ, which glowed blue. "Hoover Dam? R. E. D.? Okay..." The things on the scroll just made me more confused but I stood up with a determined look and put the figurine and scroll in the pocket of my jacket. "Artemis, here I come."
