Birthdays.
The day where most if not all family and friends gather together to indulge in a celebration made for you to feel significant and optimistic about the day you were born. It was a glorious time of year practically everyone adored, when the day came around for them.
Except one teenage boy. He- ironically -of all people actually despised his birthday with every inch of his soul. What is the point in having a celebration dedicating to or merely being joyful about, when it was the day his parents abandoned him?
He laid down on his bed with his face planted onto his grey fluffy pillows. His hair was dirty blonde, short, messy and sometimes fell over his eyes due to his bangs. His eyes were a remarkably rare color of silver as though they were grey precious diamonds. Compared to most boys around his age he was fairly skinny. As for structure, he definitely was not muscular but was also not frail either; he was remotely average. He currently was wearing beige shorts that fell to around his knees and a yellow shirt that was slightly larger than it should be.
Despite the gloomy atmosphere the boy displayed with his once in a year depressed attitude, the setting of the day was genuinely appealing to that of the eyes. The sun shined its delightful rays of blazing sunlight through the window and because his room was so clean, everything seemed to scintillate brightly. The sky was clear blue without any clouds present. And the birds chirped their wondrous songs loudly from within the trees in which they dwell in. The boy attempted to sleep throughout the day until it was over.
As he began to shut his eyes, he saw the white door that was there to enter his room swing open, rendering his eyes to stay wide open. He watched as Cate perambulate into his room. In her left hand she held a small white cake with yellow icing that spelled out his name, Camden. Whereas in her mouth she blew a yellow party blower. "Haaappy Biiirthdaaay, Caaamdy!!" she sang, throwing glitter everywhere with one free hand.
If it was not obvious yet, Cate was Camden's older sister. She had short blonde hair that fell just above her shoulders but unlike Camden, her eyes weren't silver. Instead they were a boring light blue. She stood at around 5'8 which- for the moment -placed her around the same height as Camden and she is relatively busty compared to most average girls. She wore a white shirt accompanied by a light blue thin jacket with black shorts and blue heels. She was twenty years old.
"Don't call me Camdy," he muttered into his pillow. He shifted his head to the opposite side, attempting to avoid looking towards her. Unfortunately, his eyes came face to face with the window that was emitted blinding bright lights onto his face. He hiss. It was as though he just ascended from the depths of hell and this was his first time seeing the light. 'Oh shoot it burns! It burns!' He thought.
Cate spat out the party blower onto the wooden floor. "Hah! You wish like I'd ever stop tormenting you with that nickname" she laughed. She then set the cake down on his black desk and took a seat on his bed, remotely sinking it in. "Okay so since its you're birthday, I got you a two person trip to Florida. Cool Right?"
"Why a two person trip?" Camden asked genuine confused on why she would buy him something meant for two people."Who do you expect me to take?"
"Well. Since I'm all you got now. I think you should take me in honor of being your beloved sister who let you live in her wondrous environment." She explain.
Yes. Cate did indeed offer for Camden to live with her after she learned that their parents left him for seemingly unknown reasons. What else was she to do? It's not like she could let her little brother roam around on the streets! He would be like a lost scared little puppy if that were to happened. Fortunately for Camden, she had a two bedroom house, her income was manageable and she was legally allowed to become his guardian.
