Model YURA wearing a HYPERSONIC music club T-shirt, as part of a collaboration between artist Hiroyuki-Mitsume Takahashi, jp fashion brand galaxxxy, and Crunchyroll Japan.
I took this picture at a product photo session at galaxxxy's HQ in Shibuya. This was in late October 2015...
YURA had modeled a lot of clothes for galaxxxy that day, although the HYPERSONIC shirts were set to come last.
She finished early – turns out she works fast – so we got a call to come over real quick if we wanted to be there when she wore our shirt. We ran over from an office nearby and arrived sweaty and gross just in time to see her pose and jam out all her pics for us in about 2 min. It felt kind of rushed, but the final pictures came out great.
YURA was then managed by ASOBISYSTEM and she had an adorable ikeman male assistant / manager with her that everyone fell in love with (including the guys). She's since left the fold, but is still a regular model in magazines like KERA and at fashion events. I don't even know to describe her look: wide-eyed, vaguely spooky and haunted.
I saw YURA a few weeks later walking down Center-gai (AKA "Basketball Street", as I insist on calling it) hiding her secret identity behind a cold mask. Part of me wanted to jump out and say, "Hey, remember me? It's the weird foreigner from that photo shoot a few weeks back!" but thought better of it at the last second.
