Vivian's POV
The next couple of days it was like I was on autopilot. I told everyone and I'd been taking care of everything. I've been consoling everyone and doing all the paperwork to transfer the orphanage over to me. I also was planning the funeral.
I shut everyone else out. I made food for everyone but after I'd go back into her study. I had a lot of work to do. I needed to get it together. I needed to have everyone just have a fun day before it gets serious. I planned to take everyone to the zoo.
I had a lot of paperwork to transfer the rights of the orphanage to me. I just didn't prepare myself for the responsibility. I had gone through every child's file and introduced myself to them as the caregiver.
I can't take it anymore in this office. I numbly put on a jacket and walk downstairs to the outside. I've never explored this town so I walk and look at what's here. Standard stuff as I walk. I wasn't really paying attention though. I walk into a hardware shop and look around. I was gonna put my energy into something productive. Fixing up the orphanage.
I bought paint and other things. I carried it to the orphanage which was a struggle. I set it in the yard and get to work. It was mid day so I started with the exterior. I mowed and made sure the garden was up to standard. Then I went inside and put all my paints and other things in my room.
I was tired but I pushed through. It was dinner time and I decided I needed to take charge of this orphanage. Starting now. I called everyone down and passed dinner out. I then made an announcement "I know that I've introduced myself to everyone but I wanted to make an announcement. My name is Vivian but you can call me anything you want that's appropriate. I just wanted to say that if anyone has any trouble they can come to me. I know everyone thinks I'm trying to play house but I've been in the position you all are in. In an orphanage or a foster house I've been placed everywhere. "
I ate quickly and made my way upstairs. I went into my room and started on some more paperwork. I had a lot to do so I won't be sleeping tonight.
********Next morning*******
I had finished all the paperwork I needed. I was tired but I couldn't sleep I had a lot to do. I needed to go mail the paperwork. I took a shower and changed my clothes. I poured some coffee in a to go cup.
I then grab my envelopes and went down to the post office. It was still early so I waited for the post office to open. I sat on the curb and checked my watch 6:45. I yawned and looked it didn't open until 7:30. I groaned and then put the envelopes into my purse.
I headed over to the funeral home. Thankfully they were open. I walked in and looked around. I needed to get a casket. I looked for a while before an elderly lady came over. I smiled at her and explained the situation. She understood and helped me find a cheap but nice casket. I thanked her as I filled out the paperwork. I then finished and headed down to the now open post office.
I mailed my paperwork and the letter I'd written to Pamela family telling them about what happened and when the funeral will be.
I I then returned to the orphanage exhausted. I entered to find children running around and screaming the usual. I hurry into the kitchen to make breakfast. I made waffles but set out cereal bowls just in case some of them didn't want them. I watched quietly as everyone interacted.
I wait for everyone to finish before washing all the dishes. I then went into my office and started planning. I wanted to have an adoption day soon. I have made an website for the place and decided to post it on there. I need to make design plans. I had put a large calendar in the office and had penciled things in like birthdays and such. I worked on more paperwork for a while before coming out and asking if anyone wanted to go to the park I'd found when I was walking.
Immediately a lot of the smaller children and some of the older nodded. I said "everyone who wanted to go lets me outside in ten minutes. It's a bit chilly so grab a jacket just in case. "
I grab a jacket and my phone. Once everyone is gathered I tell the oldest who is staying back there in charge. Just to make sure no one burns the house down or anything. I make a list of who is going so I don't leave anyone later.
We then walk down the street to the park. Once we get there everyone dispersed. I smile at all of them before sitting on a bench to watch them. I just watch as they interact and play making sure no one is playing rough. Someone sits on the bench but I continue to watch the children.
I don't glance at the person. I write what I'd need to get for the funeral. I need to make sure all the children have nice clothing for the funeral. Also eulogy for the funeral. I had a lot to do.
After about an hour or two I noticed some kids get tired and bored so I rounded everyone up and we headed back to the orphanage.
We entered and everyone dispersed. I entered my office and tried to schedule an adoption day. I wanted to do it soon. After the funeral so everyone can be here. Maybe bring some happiness in.
I picked a date before going and asking for everyone to gather. I asked everyone if they had something nice to wear to the funeral. Something in dark colors. If not come into my office and we can talk about it.
I then went and grabbed a snack before heading back to my office. I make a list of things I'd need to bring for the zoo and another list of things I'd need for the funeral.
Once everyone had shown me there approved outfit, I headed out alone to the grocery store. Everything in this town was walking distance. I find the local grocery store and look at the list we'd made yesterday. It would be a lot but this should last the next couple of weeks.
I got everything on the list and checked out. I grabbed all four of my bags. I brought those grocery bags that are tote bags. I carried them back to the orphanage. I then put it all away. By this time it was almost dinner time. Deciding I didn't wanna cook tonight I ordered pizza as a treat.
When it arrived I put all the supplies on the table before grabbing two slices for myself. I then headed upstairs into my office.
