The crows and owls sang through the darkness of night as I lied on the due covered grass, the cold wetness soaked through my clothes chilling me to the bone. A shadowy figure of a male deathly thin but tall, stepped into the street light not 3 feet from me allowing me to fulling see him from the corner of my eye. A snowy haired and blue eyed man no older than 20. His clothed tattered and discolored from the unforgiving hands of time, his shoes full of holes held together by duck tape I was a little more lucky with my clothes I had fished them out a old clothing store dumpster just moments ago sure there was lose threads here and there and the occasional missing button but it couldn't be as worst as my old cloths "hey get up we should go" the male spoke breaking through the night song the birds sang for all to hear. I sat up and looked forward squinting through the darkness, he stepped closer to me and held his hand out to help me to my feet
"look at you your clothes are soaked" said the male once more

"I'm sorry Zain I got tired I just wanted to rest a little" I said softly

Zain was my older brother but I all ways felt more like a daughter then a sister. We have been on our own since I was just a baby, when our parents left for a business tip and never came back. My brother all ways worried about our next meal or what would be our next warm place to sleep. Right now we currently reside in a old live in factory building on the 5th floor where the families of the worker would live we had littered the grounds with traps and trip wires to alarm us if an unwanted guess had entered our safe heaven. we walked making our way through he streets into the woods and down the embankment of a dry river bed, the old factory started to come into view engulfed by vines, fallen trees, and forgotten just like us... we where forgotten too now we are just prey for the guards of the ward to hunt down.

"come on lets hurry" said my brother

As he walked up to one of the fallen trees and climbed up it, I followed careful about were I placed my hands and feet. We hopped through the window of the 4th floor then made our way to the stair case that would lead us up to the 5th floor. A long the stair case we placed trip wires made of fishing line the end was connected to the fire alarm and if tripped it would give us a warning to get out member the ward I had mentioned earlier to the rich and powerful they were the protectors of our community but to people like me and my brother they were nothing more then cold blooded killers heartless monsters with guns thy were the ones our traps were meant for. I followed my brother down a long corridor with at least 20 doors in all we ducked into a room not 5 doors away from the stairs. I walked over to the window and looked into the dirty glass the girl staring back at me I knew all to well my sickly sunken in face, long thin stringy dark brown hair, and lastly my sapphire blue eyes the only light in the cave of hopeless darkness. But even my eyes showed signs of my souls light slowly dying losing what ever ray of hopeful fire I had managed to keep burning deep with in my heart with each passing day.

"hey May its dinner time get away from the window" Zain said sternly

I turned to look at my brother he smiled at me and I smiled back he walked over to me wrapping one arm around my neck taking his free hand balling it into a fist then preceded to rubbing his fist roughly against my head I yelped and laughed

"hey you jerk let go stop that!" I demanded only to hear him chuckle

"what you to go for a brotherly rough housing now" he said as he let go of my neck then playfully punched my sides and shoulders I only smiled and shook my head my brother was everything to me he was all I had he was my protector leader and best friend

"all right well I know your starving so lets eat" he said

as he walked to the other side of the room and pulled out a loaf of fresh bread something he stolen from the baker make in the city along with a half empty pint of jam and a full bottle of 3 year old honey. It was amazing what people wasted in the city, even things that would never spoil they throw it away when it out served its purpose as just a decoration in their cupboards. My brother broke the bread in half it was still warm the smell of fresh bread filled the damp air my mouth watered in reply to the delicious fragrance Zain gave have to me and kept the other for himself I watched as he covered a small area in a mixture of jam and honey I did he same and took a bite the bread had warmed the honey and jam in such a way that it side down my throat like butter. I chewed the bread the flavor of honey and jam lingered even long after it was gone, I repeated this a few more times then put the bread in my old make shift nap sack wrapping it in an old piece of plastic I have dug out the dry river bed a few months ago. Zain handed me the bottle of honey

          "take it" he said calmly

I looked at the golden bottle then at him and shook my head he shoved it in my hands

"I said take it" he said sternly

I sighed and placed It in my nap sack it was hard to say no to my brother once he got his mind set on something

"I'm gonna call it a night little sister see u bright and early" Zain said as he sat up in a corner arms crossed

I watched him fall asleep before I walked over to him laid my head on his lap and fell asleep there
