Lucy's POV:

I read and reread my essay, checking it over and making sure it's as good as I am capable of. Jess sits next to me, staring at the ceiling. We have some classes together because we are both studying to become writers. For some reason, that's always been my dream and I was thrilled to hear that I had gotten a room mate with the same dream.

Once I am satisfied with my work, I gather all the papers of my essay and stand to walk to Mr. Dawson's desk. I quietly slide the papers onto the pile and he dismisses me. I thank him and walk out the door. Journalism is my last class and it just finished. I sit on the park bench outside and wait for Jess. Luckily the bench in under an overhang, otherwise I'd be soaked from the rain pouring from the skies of New York. I look down at the arm of the bench. Cornell University is engraved in the metal.

"Lucy? Luuucyyy?" I jump a little and look up to see Jess walking out of Mr. Vance's classroom, looking around for me.

"Over here!" I call, rising from my seat. Her head snaps over to look at me and she strides over to where I'm standing.

"Ugh, that class sucked!" she exclaims, dragging me by the elbow towards the parking lot. "Let's go home."

I nod in agreement and hop into my car while the curly-haired pop star creeps his way into my thoughts again.

Harry's POV:

"Harry, come on, showtime in 20 minutes!"

I groan and wrench my eyes away from my phone. I should be excited for our concert, but I really just can't turn my mind off. I slowly get to my feet and walk in the direction of Paul's voice.

"There you are, come on we still have to do your hair," Lou says, leading me to her station. She begins to pull and drag combs through my hair and after applying some awful smelling spray-on product that I can't put a name to, she seems satisfied with her work. She tells me I can go wait with the boys until it's time so I mumble a thanks under my breath and saunter over to where I can see the back of Niall's and Liam's heads.

"Harry, where've you been? We've been getting kind of worried," Liam says when he hears me approaching.

"Sorry," I say just loud enough so he can hear me. He frowns at my behavior but doesn't question me further. I'm grateful because I really don't want to divulge the whole story of how I left Lucy and my home to follow my dream, and haven't seen nor talked to her since. They already know about her, so why bother them with it? She seems to be always on my mind, which I wouldn't mind except for the feeling of guilt that always accompanies her.

I tried calling her house, but a man with a strange accent and limited English answered and proceeded to tell me that the Green's had recently moved away and he had no idea of their whereabouts. I've tried everything I can to reach her, but I have absolutely no idea where she is or how to find her. What bothers me most is that she probably thinks I've forgotten all about her, when really I can't go a day without her crossing my mind at least once. It's driving me mad, and I don't even know why I'm still thinking about her.

Lucy's POV:

As we pull up into the little parking lot nearest to our dorm, I suddenly remember something.

"Oh my god, Jess, tomorrow's your birthday! I'm so sorry it took me this long to remember!" I almost squeal, my eyes alight with excitement. She laughs and nods, brushing off my apology with a wave of her hand.

"So, what do you want?" I ask her excitedly.

"Well, I do want One Direction tickets but you shouldn't get me those, I think my mom might!" she says, her tone rising an octave. I roll my eyes as she giggles, and look at her expectantly to continue. "Ummm I also could use maybe an iPod to put music on? Or speakers to connect to my laptop. Or a bracelet or earrings, some kind of jewelry."
