"MS. ALEX STONE?"
My heart leapt. He was out. I got up and went over to the nurse.
"Can I see him?" I asked. She nodded and led me down zigzagged halls. I saw Rob, barely conscious and looking utterly adorable, lying in a hospital bed. His hair was all messy, and his eyes were sleepy and confused.
"How do you feel?" I asked.
"Gronky," he mumbled sleepily.
"You feel Gronky?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Groggy," he repeated, blinking rapidly.
"How does your knee feel?" I asked, putting my hand on his shoulder.
"Eh," he said, shrugging slightly.
"Alright. Well I'm gonna go get Tom, and tell him you're awake. Do you wanna see Tom?" I asked softly. He nodded groggily before passing out again.
I went to the waiting room.
"Tom?" I called. Tom stood up in the corner. "Rob's out."
He walked over to me quickly, and we went back in the hospital's main area.
"He's going to be in room 87 on floor 8," a nurse informed us. "If you'd like to follow me, I'll take you there now."
Tom looked at me and smiled.
87, he mouthed. I nodded, grinned, and we followed the nurse. She brought us to the room, which was secluded. Tom looked my way.
"How's he feeling?" Tom asked. I shrugged.
"All I got out of him was he felt groggy," I shrugged. I heard a commotion outside the room. A conked out Rob was wheeled in, along with a doctor.
"Hello. I'm Dr. Smith," he said, sticking out his hand.
"Alex Stone," I replied, shaking his hand.
"Tom Brady," Tom said, sticking his hand out as well.
"Alright," Dr. Smith started, "so because Rob was under anesthesia, he might be a little vague and out of it for about an hour or two."
"Thank you," I said with a smile.
"You're welcome," he nodded and left.
"I hate seeing him in pain," I sighed to Tom. He nodded.
"Everyone on offense is gonna need to step up," he shook his head.
"They already have," I said.
"I agree. This has put such a dent in the team. Between Tommy, Sebastian, Vince, now him...plus so many others. The rest of the season is gonna be a tough fight." Tom ran a hand through his hair.
"Somehow we'll find a way to win though," I said with a laugh.
