The next morning, Tori went to the local hardware store to pick up the paint and some stuff to complete her bedroom, bathroom, balcony, and the connecting room. She wanted to have her spaces done before school started. She wanted something to remind her of her old life. The one that she had before her parents had been killed. Sean had given Tori some cash to pick up what she needed. Tori was grateful that her Uncle and Aunt seemed to really care and try to provide for her. She walked into the local DIY hardware store in the middle of the town.
"I see that you are not lost anymore, Wendy," said a voice that Tori remembered from the night before. It was the one that Scott had called Chase. Tori had to admit that Chase was good looking, if you were into the David Beckham look alike type. He kept his blonde hair in a short military cut that really complemented his chiseled strong face, plus the dimple on his left check when he smiled that made him look way younger than what he was. Now that is was day and Tori had the time to look, his eyes were not quite brown, but they were almost golden with flecks of green. Tori thought they looked like the eyes of a stray cat that hung out at her mother clinic.
"Nope, not lost anymore," she replied with a smile.
"So, Scott said that you are going to shot pool with us tonight," he stated in a matter of fact way.
"Yeah, he invited me to come along."
"So, are you ready for tonight's date, then?"
"It's not really a date-date, if I'm hanging out with all the lost boys and not just Peter Pan."
"So, who is Peter Pan?"
"Does it really matter?"
"It might matter to Scott, don't you think?" Chase asked with a boyish grin that showed off his one dimple perfectly.
"It might, but isn't that something Scott should be asking?" Tori replied with a sight hint of irritation in her voice. She was really getting annoyed with all the questions and comments that she has gotten about Scott. Especially with Cain's late night visit.
"Okay, I hit a nerve. I am sure that you didn't come here to talk about Scott."
"No I didn't. I'm looking for some brass fittings and copper piping."
"You are going to have to go to the salvage yard for those. We only carry plastic or steel items."
"Is there a salvage yard around here?"
"About thirty minutes away. I'll get the address tonight."
"Thank you, see you then, Tori said as she turned to find the other things she needed to get.
After finding the perfect shades of paint, some tiles, and a few plants, she headed out of the store. She stopped to get a few final touches for the rooms at a fabric store and, of course, the mall. The joining room would be a walk in closet slash sitting room. She was planning on a great steampunked design to be commentary to her main room. And she had a lot of creating to do, if she wanted it done before school started.
