Todd walked into the kitchen to find Dirk making food. "What are you doing?" Todd yawned. "Making you breakfast! I didn't want you to accidentally hurt yourself or have an episode!" Dirk grinned and flipped a pancake. "Dirk, why are you doing this?" Todd sighed. "Doing what?" Dirk tilted his head. "Being so nice to me. Helping me. I don't deserve it." Todd frowned. Dirk sighed and turned to face Todd. "You do deserve it. Todd, I care about you. I'm going to help you, whether you like it or not." Dirk grinned. Todd furrowed his eyebrows. "Dirk-" he was cut off. "No, Todd, enough of you're bullshit. You're a great friend. You're nice and you're fun to be around. Stop saying bad things about yourself." Dirk put a hand on Todds shoulder. "No, Dirk, I'm a horrible friend. I've treated you like shit. Yet you're so nice to me anyways. I don't understand, Dirk. Help me understand. Why?" Todd shook his head. Dirk sighed and pulled him into a hug. "You'll understand eventually." Dirk spoke a bit quietly. He released Todd from the hug and went back to making pancakes. "Well, breakfast is almost ready!" He grinned. Todd nodded and sat in the living room to wait. Dirk watched Todd leave the kitchen with a fond, worried expression on his face. "Someday you'll understand how I feel about you.." He whispered. "Did you say something?" Todd turned around."Hm? Oh, no, I didn't say anything." Dirk smiled. He watched until Todd was completely out of the room, then once again whispered to himself. "Oblivious. Totally oblivious." He shook his head and went back to the pancakes.

Over the next few weeks, Dirk became extremely worried about Todd. This caused him to also be very protective. It was nearly impossible to see Todd without Dirk standing next to his side, making sure he was fine. Dirk went to the store with him, to Amanda's house with him, even to the bathroom with him. Well, not literally. He would sit outside the bathroom door to make sure Todd was fine whenever he showered or just went to the bathroom. At night, Dirk would stay in Todd's room until he fell asleep, then return to his sleeping place, the couch. Dirk was like a puppy to Todd, constantly following him around. Todd wanted to say it was annoying, but he actually enjoyed it. He felt as if someone cared for him. The bad part, though, was that Todd was getting sort of Dependent of Dirk. If Dirk wasn't talking to him at night, he couldn't fall asleep. If he went to the store alone, he was afraid. When he went to Amanda's house without him, he felt empty. He didn't know what was wrong with him, or why he was so Dependent, but he was.

In the back of his mind, he knew why he needed Dirk so much. He knew what was wrong with him. But he still didn't know what it was. The reason was stuck there, leaving him oblivious to it.

He needed to find out.
