Dark

Crushed by pain in a literal sense

Surrounded by silence, not a sound to be heard

Afraid of the dark, too scared to cry

Afraid of being alone, you knock, but no ones home

Yells from above fall on your ears, yet you still have no tears

Lungs start to slow their pace

Heart starts to cry, you feel dead inside

You touch your compass one last time

The only direction it ever led you was down

And look where you are now

Deep in the ground, away from all sound

Heart stops, lungs go

You think of snow, so white and pure

Yet

It is black all around

And you

Are afraid of the dark

This poem is about a boy in a book I recently read. He died in a most terrible way. It made me cry and I decided to write a poem about it. Hope you enjoy and maybe feel the emotion through my poem as I did through the book.
