A/N Uh, I'm not sure why Wattpad said these chapters were all unpublished drafts. I wrote this in 2016 and I thought I remembered publishing it? Maybe not, though. Keep in mind it's been 9 years since I wrote this, and I'm just going through and publishing these chapters without even reading them, so I have no idea if this story is any good or not, lol.

I walked into our headquarters, which was just a giant warehouse next to a bunch of storage units; throwing off my hood, I sheathed my dagger, planning to clean it later. I knocked on the door to the boss's office and I heard him yell "come in", so I hesitantly opened the door and strode into his office.
"Chris, that's a new record you've got there. Fifteen kills in two hours within a ten mile radius." He commented, shuffling through the copies of the bounties he had given me this afternoon. I just smirked and leaned against the wall, my gloved hands dipping into the pockets of my long cloak.
"I'm getting better." I said with a shrug, trying not to sound too cocky. The boss looked up at me with doubt in his eyes, and I saw him slip another envelope out of the pocket of his overcoat.
"Here, this just came in while you were out. The last assassination of the night. Make it quick, make it easy. Return to me, get your money for the day. Deal?" He grumbled, lighting a blunt before handing me the envelope. I accepted it and nodded.
"Deal." I said firmly. He smirked and I walked out of his office, ending up outside and feeling a cold gust of wind blow across my face. I held up my arm to block the wind, and then I walked over to the side of the warehouse, quickly scaling the wall and perching on top of the roof. I propped my knee up and shook open the envelope, observing the details of my latest bounty. Her name was Sophia Riley, and she only lived about five miles from here. She was nineteen, and the reward for her death was $1,500. Hmm, generous. I chuckled and pocketed the envelope, slipping my blade out of its sheath and using the edge of my cloak to wipe off the bloodstains. The blood seeped into the dark fabric, disappearing as I replaced my dagger. I made sure my silencer was on my pistol, and I examined my dagger to assure myself that it was sharpened. Satisfied, I replaced my weapons and stood up. I could just use a sniper weapon, but what fun would that be? I liked to feel my enemies die as their bodies relaxed in my arms, blood pooling over my dark black cloak. I smirked and then took a deep breath, leaping onto the next roof. Traveling by rooftop was easier, there were less people. Obviously. Now I just needed to find Sophia Riley, and end her miserable life.
SOPHIA POV
I stood in the bathroom, washing my face and brushing my teeth as I prepared for bed. It had been a long day, not counting the fact that my mom STILL wasn't home. I knew she went out on dates with some guy she met recently, but I didn't know what he looked like yet. I sighed and put down my brush after taking out my braid and combing through the twisted strands of hair. I glanced at myself in the mirror before deciding I looked okay, and then I walked into my room, fumbling for the light switch. Just as my hand brushed over the light switch I felt a hand clamp over my mouth, and a cold blade pressed to my throat.
CHRIS POV
"Stop! Mmmff!" She struggled to speak against my hand, but I ignored her struggles, turning on the light switch so I could look into her eyes when she died. Once the light filled the room I spun her around to face me, and I gasped as I saw her. Her wavy dark brown hair, her chestnut colored eyes.... Candace. She reminded me of Candace. My hands shook and she pushed my hand away from her mouth.
"Stop! Don't hurt me!" She begged, pain and fear filling her eyes. She looked so innocent and small, and she cowered down, terrified. Her small stature and thin pink lips were so recognizable, even though she was a complete stranger. My hand went numb and my dagger clattered to the floor.
"Y-You're Sophia, right?" I asked, my mind blanking out for a moment. I wasn't supposed to speak to the target, only kill them.
"Yes. Please don't hurt me, I'll do anything." She begged, tears running down her face. My heart squeezed. She looked too much like Candace. I couldn't kill her. I just couldn't.
"Alright, you wanna spare yourself?" I asked gruffly, swiftly picking up my dagger and sheathing it smoothly. She gulped and nodded and I smirked, hiding all my previous emotions.
"Alright then, don't breathe a word of this to anyone. I never existed. Got that?" I asked, a threatening hint to my tone. She nodded quickly, trying to dry her tears. Good. I hope she understood that this was the first time in my life that I had spared a contract. I wasn't a softie like she might think.
SOPHIA POV
The stranger that stood in front of me was tall and wearing all black. He had a long cloak with the hood pulled over his head, and his mouth and nose were covered by some shrouded fabric, hiding his identity so that I could only see his dark brown eyes. He was wearing black gloves and black pants, and even his boots looked silent and deadly. A dagger hung at his waist, along with a shiny black pistol that screamed death. I shuddered violently, not knowing who or what he was, or why he was here. I backed up and finally managed to dry all of my tears, looking up at him as he proceeded to walk casually towards my window.
"Goodbye Sophia. I hope I don't have to hear your name again. Because if you rat me out, I'm not sparing you again." He spat, glaring at me and waiting until I nodded. He gave a curt nod of his own, and then he ducked out my window, his cloak swishing out behind him. I let out a deep sigh of relief, slamming my window shut and locking it, pulling the curtain down and locking my bedroom door as well. Then I curled up in a ball on my bed, raising my shaking hand to my throat. I could still feel the cold metal of the blade against my skin. God, I had almost died. And I didn't even know why.
CHRIS POV
I sat on top of Sophia's roof, my head in my hands as memories flashed through my head. I felt tears stinging my eyes, but I blinked them away, refusing to cry. I hadn't cried since that day, and I wasn't about to do it again any time soon. I shook my head and clenched my jaw. I should just go back there and kill that little bitch, but I just couldn't. I didn't know what had come over me. I shook my head again and hopped the rooftops, heading back to the warehouse. I didn't want to lie to Boss, but I think I had to. Maybe if he found out I lied I could cover up for it later. After all, I was his best guy, he wouldn't kill me over something small like that. It would only be my first slip-up. I'm sure he would let it go, since everyone else slipped up all the time.
As soon as I made it back to the warehouse I strutted into Boss's office, tossing the envelope to him. He caught it easily and smirked at me, his eyes glinting with greed.
"Another one dead Chris. Good job. And this pay is generous, I'm sure both of us will enjoy today's money." He sneered. I smiled and crossed my arms as he dug a wad of money out of his pocket, tossing it to me as I ripped the rubber band off and counted it. Hm, not bad for 16 kills. I could buy me a new blade, this one was getting pretty dull. I smirked again at the thought of slicing open the next victims throat. I may have missed out tonight, but I wouldn't tomorrow night. I needed to prove myself worthy of my post. I was not one known to slack. Ever.
