How to make an oc character

PSA: Creepypastas give disorders a bad reputation.

If you wanna add disorders to your oc, DO SOME RESEARCH PLEASE!!!! Disorders and disabilities are serious and you don't want to misinterpret them.

Psychopathy is abused by so many Mary sues and Gary stus. It's insulting to people who actually do have it.

Don't romanticize them either. Having anxiety and bipolar disorder is not cute. It really fucks you up.

There are actually good cases where disorders can have a bit of romance in them.

Good example:

James has OCD, he stresses about everything. He's a really friendly guy if you talk to him. His girlfriend, Ellen, helps him calm down whenever he panics. Ellen can be really rough and could around people, but she will jump off a building if she ever hurt James' feelings.

Bad example:

Ruby has anxiety and depression but is super happy. Her boyfriend is a psychopathic murderer and they act like a cheesy cliché romance novel.

Disorders should NOT be a positive trait and is completely ignored from the character.

I may not be a doctor, but eating disorders don't make you super happy.

In other words, look up some disorders that will fit your oc. Think about how it effects the person. How does it effect people around them?
