If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away by Justin Moore

Yugi's POV

I walk into my chambers while pinching the bridge of my nose. This Pharaoh stuff is challenging. I hear a knock on the door. "It's me," says Mana. "Come in," I say. Mana enters my chambers. "Hey are you ok. You're starting to look a little burnt out," she asks. "Yeah, I guess the non stop meetings have been a bit tiring," I say and sit at my desk and take off the crown for a bit. "I can say that Atem looked the same way, but then again his father had just died and he was to be crowned after that," she says.

"Yeah I can't imagine what he was going through I mean I just lost my dad and I didn't even know him. He had been with his dad for his whole life before," I say. "You saw the pictures of your father right," she asks. I nod. She walks up to me and hands me a picture. "Here take this," she says. I take the frame and see my father sitting on the throne. I smile and stick on the desk. She giggles. "Perfect place," she says. "Yeah, time for another meeting," I say and pick up the crown. "That's the spirit," she says and grips my hand and drags me out the door.

"You're enthusiastic Mana," I say. "Well as your resident magician and cheerleader, I have to keep you upbeat and peppy," she says. "Hey I thought that was my job," says Joey as he's walking down the hall. "Oh it's both of your jobs," I say as we all walk into the meeting area together. "Hey Yugi," says Grandpa. "Oh my Gods Grandpa," I say and run around the table and hug him. The rest of them are standing there too. "The days have been a bit of a blur lately and I didn't know that much time had passed," I say.

"Well that made a nice surprise now didn't it," says Bakura. "Well now that everyone is here, we can have the first official meeting as the council," says Ishizu. "I must get tending to my shop near the palace gates. A lot of stuff to sort out and put away," he says. "Oh be sure to take some guards with you to help," I say. "I'm old not incapable Yugi. I'll be fine and good luck with this one," he says and walks out. "Gotta love your Gramps Yugi," says Joey. "Ok first item of business is whom is taking which items," says Marik.

"Since Yugi is the Pharaoh, he gets to pick," says Ishizu. "Well I have already decided that Ishizu the necklace. Marik will get the rod back. Joey will have the eye. Tristan the scales. Bakura, I have decided to give you the key instead of your original item. The ring will go to Mana. Lastly I get the puzzle since I am the Pharaoh and well this means something to me," I say. Ishizu smiles at me. "I'm sure he's smiling down on you. In a few short days, you will officially be crowned as the Pharoah of Egypt," she says.

"I hope you're ready for the task my Pharaoh. I am sure you will do amazing just like you do with everything else," says Bakura. "Thanks you guys it means a lot really," I say. "I've been meaning to say this Yugi, but you look a lot like Atem. It's almost scary," he says. Mana giggles. "Of course he does. Why wouldn't the Pharaoh's vessel look like him," she says. "Alright lets get back to business. I know the Pharaoh is exhausted," says Ishizu. I smile at her in thanks. "Next is just some minor preparations for the after party," says Marik.

"I was wondering about that," I say. "Ok first off, do you want to allow the citizens in to come and greet you," asks Marik. "Yes, I want them all to have the chance to come up and see me. I want them to know that I am a person just like them and I want nothing but the best for their wellbeing," I say. "Yes my Pharaoh," says Marik. "Have you guys done any training for this," I ask the rest of the group. "We were told proper etiquette, but we still have some lessons to take my Pharaoh," says Tristan.

Again this my Pharaoh thing will take some getting used to. "Alright what else do we have to discuss here," I ask. "Well the last of it is mainly just party plans," says Marik. "Ok what else is there to plan," I ask. "The color scheme for the decor and carpets," says Ishizu. "I will go with gold, crimson, amethyst, and black. Do different variations of those four colors with emphasis on the crimson and amethyst," I say. Mana smiles and jumps up and down in her seat. "That is too cute Pharaoh," she says.

"Thank you Mana. Is that all for today," I ask. "Yep that about sums it up. Time for lessons for you all except you my Pharaoh. You should go to your chambers and rest up a bit before you have to be at the gardens for your sword training," says Marik. I sigh and start making my way down the winding corridors. In the past couple of days, I have really gotten the hang of getting around the palace. I still haven't seen everything though. I reach my chambers and pull open the door.

I almost just flop down onto the bed. I take off my clothes and toss them in the hamper next to my dresser and collapse on the sea of pillows and blankets. Preparing to reign is harder than actually reigning over the people of Egypt. I groan as I rub my eyes and wrap the blanket around myself. I sigh in the comfort of the bed. It feels as if I am floating on a cloud on this bed. My eyes slowly start to feel even more heavy and I drift into sleep.
