Kris's P.O.V.

12:36 P.M.

"I love you too KB." Emma murmured as she snuggled closer into Rizzo's chest. A pang of jealousy ran through me but I shrugged it off.

Thanks Maddon for ruining an adorable moment.

"Kris we need to talk about Emma right now." Maddon told me as I walked over. Following his lead we walked away from the batting cage and down into the outfield. He abruptly stopped about halfway into the outfield. Turning towards me, he sighs. "Kris, is this your niece or something?"

"Um no sir. It's actually a funny story you see." Chuckling to myself I think back to last night.

Has it really been less than 24 hours?

"So, I got into my car after the game and everything and drove back to my apartment complex. I parked and everything, got out of my car and opened the back door to grab my duffel. I saw Emma in the back of my car. I screamed and she screamed." I paused trying to catch my breath.

"So you are telling me that Emma was in your car while it was parked here?" I nodded in reply. "Why was she in your car?" He questioned me.

"She said her father who she calls Mike, told her to leave and hit her. So she took off and ran towards these so called flashing lights. I guess ending up at the gate where we park our cars. She was able to slip through since she's tiny, and found the first car that was unlocked. She told Rizzo and myself that she was tired and cold so she just went in my car and fell asleep." I kicked at the ground, getting angry while talking about how Emma was treated.

"Wow. Kris I'm proud of you." Shocked I looked up, expecting him to yell at me. "Right now your situation is not good, but I'm gonna help you and Emma. I'll go call the police and explain everything. I'll let you know if I need you for anything." Give him a half smile I turn my back and take a step towards the infield.

That went better than expected.

"Kris hold up." He calls out, halting my footsteps.

"What's up sir." I reply back and walk to him. His hug catches me off guard. "What. What are you doing." Stumbling over my words, I wrap my arms around his back returning the hug.

"I just wanted to say I'm proud of you. You've grown up so much in the few years I've known you. Emma seems to really look up to you. I'm just really really proud of you." He tells me while patting my back.

"Thanks Maddon, that means a lot to me. I'm gonna go get ready for the game, let me know how the conversation with the authorities go." I tell him while letting go. Nodding at each other we walked back side by side until we reached the cage.

Time to see Emma bear.

After giving Maddon a handshake, we went opposite directions. He went up to his office while I hurried around to the crowd of guys.

"Hey guys where's-" I began but was promptly shushed by everyone. Giving Addison a confused look he smiled and pointed to where Rizzo and Ross were sitting on the ground. In both of their laps lay Emma sound asleep. Taking a few steps forward, I sat myself down with them.

She's so adorable.

Emma's messy blonde curls were poking out from under the Cubs beanie that she was wearing. Her body minus her arms were wrapped in the blanket Rizzo had put over her. The blue Cubs sweatshirt sleeves covered her arms from the chilly wind. Her left arm was lying across her chest while her right was sprawled above her head. Her chest rose evenly with her deep breaths.

Ross and Rizzo each put an arm under her and gently passed her to me, careful not to wake her up. Grabbing her, I plopped her on my side and eased her head into its place in the crook of my neck. Twisting my head to the right I placed a quick kiss on her shoulder.

"Oh my lord. I might die of cuteness overload." Fowlers voice called out as he snapped pictures. Addison was quick to land a solid punch to his shoulder and telling him to be quiet.

"KB?" Emma's groggy voice said, as everyone focused their attention back on us. Standing up, I gently moved my left arm up and down her back.

"Shh I'm right here. Go back to sleep. I'll wake you up in a little to get some food okay?" I whispered a little loud so the guys could hear me as they all were leaning in closer.

"Love you KB." She softly replied. Placing a soft kiss on her cheek, I felt her drift back off into sleep.

"I love you too EB." I told her smiling. Looking at the guys, I could tell they were shocked. I mean like they've never seen me like this. Then all of the sudden Dexter began squealing and making inhuman sounds as he smiled while turning off his camera. "I'm gonna put her in the clubhouse then I'll be back up." I tell everyone as they part ways for me, as I make my way towards the dugout steps.

"I feel like I might die of cuteness overload." Dexter sang out, earning him a few laughs from the guys. Turning my back I walked down the steps.

I think I already have Dexter. I think I already have.

OMG. This chapter was so much fun for me to write. But I have a feeling you guys didn't think Maddon was gonna react that way!! Haha yay he was totally fine with it! Today was a double update. Hopefully you guys like it! Let me know :)
