Jeongguk and Taehyung were going for a walk around the forest next to Taehyung's home. It felt like the trees took breaths along with them and the birds sang with the rhythm of their heartbeat.
They were going in deeper and deeper, until they got to some lake.
It looked like the sunlight, hitting the water was dancing over it and the wind blowing was her music. The melody of Vivaldi's Spring echoed at the back of Jeongguk's head.
"What is this place?" he asked with his eyes wide open.
Taehyung sighed and sat down on the grass.
"I usually come here to read or just think for a bit. The lake didn't have a name, when I first found it and still doesn't. It bothers me, but I can't think of anything special enough to capture its beauty, you know," he said and ruffled his hair.
Jeongguk laid down next to him and stared at the water.
"Maybe we can figure out something together, hm?" he suggested and Taehyung nodded.
"This lake is my safe place, just like you," he turned around and smiled at Jeongguk, "I'd love us to name it together."
The black haired boy couldn't hold back his wide smile.
"What makes the lake special to you?" Jeongguk asked.
Taehyung sunk in thought for a little bit, chewing on his bottom lip.
"To be honest, I don't know," he sighed, "There is something that's been bugging me about the whole forest for a while now."
"And what is it?"
Taehyung smiled bitterly. Jeongguk furrowed his eyebrows - it was the first time he saw such expression on the boy's face.
"Everywhere I used to see forest fairies, elves and spirits, it's just now slime and mud. It's depressing, Gukie. It really is," his grin was wide and his eyes were sparkling with jocularity, but his words made Jeongguk's heart freeze.
Taehyung was acting very extraordinary. He typically just expressed opinions, but he never ever let personal information like that escape from his lips. At least not around Jeongguk.
"Tae, what are you taking about?" the boy asked with a frown.
Taehyung shrugged his shoulders.
"If you haven't noticed, baby, I am trying to be a little more open with you and share some of my thoughts and feelings. Is that a problem?" he tilted his head.
Jeongguk blinked, staring at the boy.
"N-No, not at all. I just didn't, hm, e-expect it from you," he scratched his neck, "Also, I don't really understand what you are trying to say."
Taehyung bit his lip, "You will understand very, very soon," the boy muttered, "Now just let's think of a name for the lake."
Jeongguk was more confused than ever, but if Taehyung didn't want to tell him, then there was no way he could find out what he meant by himself.
"What's your favorite classical musician, Tae?" Jeongguk suddenly questioned.
He couldn't help it. He constantly heard, felt and saw music in everything Taehyung does and he doesn't even know his favorite musician.
"I've always admired Chopin's music," he immediately answered.
Jeongguk furrowed his eyebrows in surprise.
"You look like the type of guy who would be more into classicism or even baroque, to be honest," he blurted out and blushed.
Taehyung laughed and leaned in to kiss Gukie's flushed cheeks.
"I guess. But music with more emotion tends to attract me. I mean, what's the point if it doesn't make you feel?" he smiled, "Why are you asking, baby?"
Jeongguk shrugged.
"I just wanted to know."
They kept quiet for a while.
It wasn't an awkward silence. It wasn't silence at all.
There was music, life, nature, love and spilled, messy thoughts all around them, breathing and speaking their own language.
You can't call that silence at all.
Jeongguk felt as whole as ever when Taehyung kissed him with unbelievable softness and caressed his cheek.
No.
That wasn't silence.
-
After a few more hours spent in kisses and talks, they decided to take off, since it was getting late.
"Hey, we didn't name the lake!" Jeongguk whined suddenly, while Taehyung was walking him home.
The black haired boy protested at first, but Tae ignored him.
"Maybe the lake isn't supposed to have a name," Taehyung said and intertwined his fingers with Jeongguk's, "It may be our special place, but it doesn't belong to us. You can't name something that isn't yours."
Once again, Jeongguk's lover was right. And the words echoed in his head the whole night, filled with stars, wind and doubts.
