Jade walked out the door, pain in his heart. It was a honest misunderstanding, but he's got a fucked up life, and people with fucked up lives don't tend to have honest misunderstands. It's a foreign concept to him, and until recently, it was to Harley as well.
"Jade, wait!" Harley called as she began to run after him, but I caught her wrist.
"Harley, maybe it's be best if I talk to him. You know, man to man?" I offered.
She looked back at me with glazed eyes. Then her stare fell to the floor with a sigh. "Alright. I... I'm tired. Can I go to sleep?"
"Of course! Chef might come sleep with you. She always sleeps with me when I have bad days." I grinned.
Harley attempted to return the smile. "O-okay. Thank you, Eddie. Goodnight."
I let go of her wrist, catching the fresh cuts on them. As she walked away, I began moving towards the door, saying over my shoulder, "Goodnight, and Harley, even if Jade is hurt, he still loves you. Don't forget, there's still people who love you."
She took a deep breath, "Thank you, again."
"Anytime." I smiled ear to ear, turning towards the door.
Grabbing my jacket from the hook, I began to walk out front. Well, Jade was nice enough to close the door on his way out. He's a good guy, stuck in hell. His car was still there, but he was gone.
I took a wild guess and decided to walk to the neighborhood park. Despite how cold it is, he'd still go sit out there to enjoy the stars. That's just... him.
The park isn't too far away from my house. When I found it, I wasn't too shocked to see Jade on the bench. He was smoking, staring up at the sky with tears in his eyes.
"What are you doing here?" He coldly asked.
I sat down next to him, sighing as I did so. "I want to explain. Harley's had a rough night. She's been a little out of it, and she tripped, falling into me. We fell back on the couch and laughed about it. That's all that happened."
"Hm, sounds like horse shit to me." He griped.
"Fine." I said as I stood up. "If you don't want to put faith into her, you must not love her as much as I thought you did. A real man would not only accept her apology, but would be on his hands and knees begging for forgiveness 'cause he acted like an idiot."
I began to walk away, fuming. I thought he was a good guy, but I guess I was wrong.
"Wait." He said. "I... I'm just so scared of losing her that I... overreacted. I'm sorry."
I turned around, looking him dead in the eyes. "I'm not the one to say sorry to."
I knew it would take a while for Eddie to talk Jade down, giving me plenty of time. Once I heard him leave, I walked into the bathroom to wash my face and brush my hair. After I was done, I fell back on the wall, staring at myself in the mirror.
God, why do I fuck up everything? Everything I touch, I damage in some way. I carefully sunk down to the ground, feeling my face heat up.
My shaky hands searched for the razor in my pocket. I found it, pulling it out. Why do you do this to yourself? Why do put yourself in these situations? Why must you hurt everyone in your life?
Here's a cheer for all the fuck-up's in the world.
