"Emily, you appear to be having multiples."
"What?!" I cried.
"I can make out a first, second and third baby positively."
"What do you mean by positively?!"
"What I mean is that you are definitely expecting triplets at this time. However, I can almost make out the masses of possible fourth, fifth and sixth babies." I stared at Caroline in shock. No. This was not happening. "As you may know, multiples higher than twins are quite rare, and what you're expecting could turn out to be above all the odds. Do multiples run in you or the fathers family?"
Oh, gosh. The father. Right. I did not reply, simply stared at the wall behind her.
After she did some tests, Caroline old me I was roughly one month and one week pregnant. I was free to leave, as long as I came back each week for appointments.
"Well then, you're pregnant." My mom stated once we were back in the car.
"Yupp." I replied, popping the 'p'.
We both sat in our seats looking straight forwards in the unmoving car.
"Emily, did I ever tell you how the twins were born?" She asked me, turning her body.
"No." I answered.
"Well, me and your father were both very young. Actually, we were your age. Seventeen. It was just that one night that changed everything. I fell pregnant, and when I found out it was twins, I panicked. Completely freaked out, shut everyone out of my life, even your father. When they arrived, I calmed down. It wasn't so bad. Years later we were complaining about not having enough children!" I laughed at that, surprised that my parents, my responsible parents, had a teen pregnancy.
"So, you're not mad?"
"Oh, I'm mad alright. Just te supportive, happy kind of mad. Maybe even the crazy type." She grinned. "So how about a mother-daughter day?"
