The crickets chirp a calming tune,
under the bright, unfurling moon.
I hope morning won't come too soon.
You see, I'm sitting here with you,
watching grass blades gather dew.
These moments we have, they seem so few.
My love, hold me and don't let go.
Stay with me, I need you so.
Killing me are pasts you can never know.
Wrap me in your arms with care.
Reassure me you are always there.
Let them part us, if they dare.
The sun is rising much too fast.
This moment, much too soon, shall pass.
But this is a first, and not our last.
