"Only one more week you guys!" Kayla says excitedly.
"Then we are officially seniors!" Penny says, finishing her sentence.
All four of us decided to go shopping for our fancy date night for the last day of school. We haven't had a girls day in forever, so we were extremely excited for today. We started our day off with some frappes from Starbucks. Now we are in my car headed to the mall.
"So what type of dresses should we get?" Caisey asks. "Should we just get, like, a Sunday church dress, or like fancy dress?"
"I think we should go full out. Cocktail dresses, heels, maybe even get our hair done." Kayla says excitedly.
"Maybe, first we should take into consideration how much money we have." I remind them.
"Hey I know of a place where you can get a full outfit like that for under a hundred dollars." Penny says matter-of-factly.
"Ok well I guess we can do our own hair." Kayla says.
"I'm still not so sure about the cocktail dresses though." I say a bit worried.
"Oh come on Karah. Don't be a party pooper. You could easily work a cocktail dress." Penny reassures me. I'm still not so sure. I've never been the type to dress extremely fancy like that. The only time I've ever come close was at Prom last year. Even then I secretly wore my converse underneath my dress.
"Ok I'll try one on, but if I come out of that dressing room looking like on of Sandra's wanna-be's I'm wearing shorts and a t-shirt." I say.
"Oh trust me, that won't happen." Kayla says.
We get to the mall and go to the store Penny was talking about. It was huge. They had shoes, handbags, dresses, lingerie, corsages, and everything you would need at a wedding or prom. Caisey and I wear the same size so we went to one rack. Penny and Kayla wear the same size so they went to another rack.
"I know how you feel about the dress thing." Caisey tells me. "I've never dressed up for anything like this either."
"I just don't want to feel like a whore." I laugh, picking up a dress with less material than a bikini.
I have always loved Caisey. Out of my three friends, she understands me best. I tell her things that I would never tell Penny or Kayla. Its not that I don't trust them, but they just don't understand me as well.
"So how have you and Christian been?" I ask her.
"What do you mean?" she says blushing.
"Don't act like you don't know." I tease. "I've noticed y'all acting 'friendly' around each other lately." I say nudging her arm.
She blushes more. "I don't know. We've been on a few dates, but I don't know if that means much." she says shyly.
"Um, yeah that means a lot!" I say, getting sqealy like Penny and Kayla do. "Look I've been talking to Bryan about him and he doesn't just take out anybody. He must really like you." She just shrugs and blushes.
I pick up a dress with a reasonable price on it. Its not the best looking but its ok. I decide to go try it on. Caisey grabs one and follows me to the dressing rooms. When we get there we see Kayla and Penny, each with a stack of dresses at least a foot high.
"Here Caisey." Penny says handing her stack to Caisey. "Try these on. Don't worry they are your size." Caisey gives me a worried look as she is pushed into the dressing room. I lightly laugh at her reaction.
"And these are yours." Kayla hands me her stack. "Go try them on." she demands.
"Wait. Can I at least watch Caisey?" I plead.
