Chapter 5

"Come on." Jeff said, grabbing me by my arm.

We were running down my neighborhood street. And it was freezing cold.

Jeff was an extremely fast runner. I couldn't keep up with his pace, so I didn't even use my feet. Because I knew it would slow him down.

"Will you pick up your feet?" He said slowing down a bit.

"You're too fast, I'd just slow you down."

He sighed, and picked me up by my waist, and hoisted me to his shoulder.

"Hey! Put me down!" I said kicking him.

"Maybe if you were a little faster, I wouldn't have to do this."

I groaned. We, or should I say Jeff ran full speed all the way down my street, and turned to another street on the left.

"Perfect."

Oh no. He was probably planning to kill someone. And I had a feeling that his favor might be for me to appoint him while he does so.

"Jeff, please."

"Please, what?"

He had put me down in front of a two-storied apricot coloured house, with a dark brown roof.

"Go in the backyard." He ordered.

"Why? never mind."

We both went into the back yard, and Jeff looked inside of the sliding doors that were on the patio.

These people had such a beautiful backyard. I could tell they had kids, because I had seen a slide. I couldn't let Jeff kill a family with kids. I had to do something.

"Jeff, please don't. They have kids here." I put my hand on Jeff's shoulder.

Luckily, I didn't make a wrong move by doing so. But I knew he still wouldn't listen to me.

"Listen sweetheart, It'd be best to shut up and not touch me." He slapped my hand from his shoulder.

I scoffed "Well sorrryyy."

Jeff carefully opened the sliding door, and entered the space he had made in it.

"Get in here." He whispered.

As much as I didn't want to, I listened to him. I couldn't let him murder my family. I couldn't let him murder these people either, but what choice do I have?

"So, you wanna know the favor?"

"I don't want to. But what is it?"

"Kill."

"What?"

"Look, there's probably a couple upstairs. I kill one of them, you kill the other. You don't have to worry about the kids, leave them to me."

My heart suddenly dropped. Kill? An innocent family? Why couldn't he just kill me so I wouldn't have to deal with this messed up stuff? I couldn't kill anyone. I wouldn't even kill a rabbit if I needed food.

Tears started to fill my eyes.

"I-I can't."

Jeff walked over to me.

"Why are you crying? You don't even know these people."

"That's the point, you freak! I don't know these people, why would I kill them!" I whisper-yelled.

Jeff tried to wipe a tear from my cheek, but I slapped his hand out of the way.

"Don't touch me."

Jeff sighed. "Do you want me to kill your family?"

"Goddamnit, fine! But promise me you'll leave me alone after this."

"I promise." Yeah right.

I wouldn't believe him even if my life depended on it. Which actually, my life does depend on it.

"Stay close behind me, got that?"

"Yeah, I got it, just hurry please."

Jeff and I were creeping up the stairs, ready to end lives. Obviously I wasn't ready, and I had second thoughts of just leaving the place. I stopped for a second to think about it, and looked at the sliding door.

"Thinking about leaving?" Jeff asked.

"No. Just keep going."

We crept upstairs, and stood in front of a white door decorated with lots of little girl things. Like fairies, and princesses. That must've been a little girl the couple had. Next we went down the hallway to another white door. It was plain, and big. I'm guessing it was the couple's room.

"You ready, because it's now or never." Jeff whispered.

I took a deep breath, and nodded.

Oh, the things I do for my family.
