I sat in a small room with only a few computers in it but that's all. I sat there crying my eyes out reading my mothers-or who I thought was my mothers journal. It just talked about us basically it didn't really answer any of my questions but I still liked hearing her words. Peter had told me that he was talking to some people but the way he was acting I knew he was setting something up with my mom. After awhile I got lost in my thoughts not knowing what to think anymore until a knock came at the door.
"Can I come in?"
Peter entered the room and came and sat next to me. Almost too close.
"How are you?"
"Better I guess thank you for giving me this. I think it's helping. You know makes me feel like she's still here."
"Well she is. She's not here right now but you know what I mean."
"Yeah I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around that it doesn't seem possible. Her still being in the area not wanting to leave us."
"She never did. You should know all she ever talked about was dreading the day she had to leave."
"Yeah you're right she says it a lot in here. Can you tell me now? You know why she had to leave."
"I guess I can tell you as much as possible right now."
He took a deep breath and I stiffened up and prepared myself as much as possible for what was coming.
"Ok, the man you live with is your real birth father but Chelsea was not your real mother. Is it ok if I call her that now?"
I nodded my head in agreement flinching a little at her name.
"So before you were born your mom and dad were in love. They were happy together.Your mother was a sweet woman too everyone called her an angel. Until they found out who she really was. She had run from law. She was living in Massachusetts and had a very bad past. Your mom had done some bad things before she came here and-"
"Are you being serious my mom was a criminal? My dad knew about this the whole time too?"
"Yes he was just hiding it to protect you. Your mom had come here for a second chance and it didn't work out. She became pregnant with you when they found out. Your mom had changed her name and everything they didn't know. But when they found who she was they gave her a chance. But she blew it. Your mom was crazy. One day you were about 1 week old your father woke up and she was gone."
"Oh great so every mother I had walked out on us? Just my luck I guess no one cares about me."
"That's not true your mom left a very threatening note about her coming back to get you and revenge. So that's why they sent Chelsea in so you would be protected and unharmed."
"Then why did she leave? How are we safe now?"
"Well about a month before she left you there was a story in the paper that your mother was dead. So they told Chelsea she needed to go back."
"So my mother is dead?"
"I'm sorry to say but yes." He looked up at me and looked into my eyes. Then I felt something and I think he felt it too. "I am always here for you."
He looked into my eyes again and cupped his hand around my cheek. Then before I knew it we were kissing. Just sitting there kissing and it was so magical. I had never been so happy in my life. I forgot all my troubles let it all melt away. I never wanted it to end. But it did.
"Wow." He said.
Wow. I can see he's the romantic type. "Um is that a good or a bad thing?"
"Both." He stared at the ground for a second then got up. "I...uh...got to go. See you later."
Then just like that he was gone.
