The soul of the night.
Everything seemed so unreal, Sam thought. City lights flickered below the rocky ridge he stood upon. The wind gave a soft howl as it brushed past him, parting like the waters of a swift river. Eyes closed he leaned into it, arms out stretched, chest forwards and open. Challenging anything and everything out there, to take it’s best shot. A daring smile crept up on Sam’s face as he flicked his eyes open. So this, he thought, is the soul of the night. Becoming one with the world he let himself fall forwards, over the edge. Streams of air whipped past, pulling him down into the dark abyss below.
Sam’s hand moved back swiftly pulling a cord, with a soft jerk he was no longer falling, but floating above the dark trees below. A sudden updraft, brought him sailing towards the heavens, the ground shrinking beneath him. With the city lights ahead he floated, onwards.
