Wednesday- three days until Homecoming.

-

"Rise and shine, sleepyheads!" Lacey shouts, and I hear Lexi groan from beside me. "It's too early." Lexi mumbles, kicking my legs, and shoving her head into the pillow more.

"It's 7:24 , wake up!" Lacey laughs.

"That's early." I tell her. Me and Lexi slept on the bed, and we pulled up an air bed for Lacey, because apparently she can't sleep on the couch—gives her "back pain". She can't sleep on the floor—she's scared bugs will come. She can't sleep on my bed—doesn't want to be "rude". So, we pulled up an air bed, because she's the queen, I guess.

"I made breakfast?" She says. Lexi immediately pulls the blanket off herself, running down the stairs. Lacey and I laugh at her crazy self.

I get up also, as Lacey skips down the stairs, already ready for school. I dress myself, making sure I look presentable, in case some guy wants to ask me to homecoming. Hint hint.

Once I'm finished, I head downstairs where Lacey and Lexi sits eating the breakfast Lacey had made.

"Go get dressed." I tell Lexi, slapping her ass as a funny gesture. She hums a 'yes', taking one last bite of her breakfast before running up the stairs, going to get the breakfast made.

If you're wondering, Henry didn't come to make us breakfast, probably because Lacey wanted to as a 'thank you' for me inviting her to come here. I'm actually starting to warm up to her. I don't hate her, but I don't necessarily like her either. I mean, I can't stand her, but she's a good person, and I can't hate her just for being with Ethan. That's just low.

Lexi comes down all dressed. We finish our breakfast, and drive over to school. I'm glad Lacey sees me as a friend now. Now Ethan can too again, maybe.

We walked into the school doors together, and made our way through the hallways. Lacey immediately pulls us over to where Ethan and his friends are.

"Hey, baby!" Lacey cheers, pulling him into a side hug. "Hey." He chuckles lightly, looking down at her, extremely lovestruck.

"Hey, Ethan." I wave a little at him. He gives me a small smile, before replying with a quiet 'hey.'

"Well, this isn't awkward at all." Lexi whispers into my ear, while clinging onto my arm. I slightly nod at her, telling her she was right, with her sarcasm.

"Aye, Ethan you think you can come over after school, I need to talk to you." I turn my head back to him. He rubs the back of his neck with him arm, that was around Lacey's shoulder before. "Uh-"

"Ethan, just go! I'll be alright." Lacey pats his chest. "Besides, we're friends now. Right, Carter?" I nod slowly, chuckling awkwardly.

"But I thought you wanted me over-"

"Ethan! It's fine." She laughs. He sighs, giving in. "Okay," he tells me.

"Okay." I echo.

I walk away with Lexi to class, "What do you need to talk to him about?" Lexi ask, as I walk a bit faster than she does. "I don't know." I lied. "Just feel like I do." I shrugged.

The rest of the day was a blur. And, me being me, didn't pay attention in most of my classes. I wanted to block everything out until I got home.

I just wanted to go home.

-

I didn't have a ride home due to the fact that Lacey drove us in her car, my dad works late, obviously Henry and Alda can't get me, so I walked.

As I was about to turn around the corner, an all-too-familiar black car with tinted windows drives up besides me.

The window rolls down, reveling the handsome idiot with an amazing smile. I couldn't help but smile myself. "Hey, loser. Need a ride?" He adjusts his sunglasses. What I love about this moment, is that even though things are supposed to be awkward around us, he's making it not awkward. And it just makes me more comfortable now.

I chuckle, and run around the front of the car, making my way to the passenger seats door. I pull the handle of the car, and it doesn't even open. "Ethan!" I shout, clearly frustrated. Due to the tinted windows, I can't see that loser laughing.

I bring my head closer to the window trying to see if I could see him. I smirk, an idea coming to my mind. "You wouldn't want me to lick your window would you?" His car is his baby, I swear. Silence for a few seconds, though I knew he heard me.

The window slowly opens, revealing a very serious looking Ethan. "You wouldn't." He dramatically and sarcastically says, pulling down his sunglasses making it about more dramatic. "Of course I wouldn't. That's gross." I put my hand through the window, unlocking the door from inside, and hopping in.

"Ohh, you're smart, Morris." He winks. "I know." I say in a duh tone, flinging my t-shirt forward with my pointer finger and thumb. He laughs, before stepping on the pedal, and making his way to my house.

He pulls up onto the driveway, and parks his car close to the door. We both hop out, and I run for the door, Ethan trailing behind me, walking.

I put my key into the keyhole, and twist it. The door burst open, and Ethan and I walk in.

"Ethan! Nice to see you back!" Henry makes his way over, giving Ethan a bro hug. Ethan chuckles lightly, "Yeah." He replies. "We're gonna go up." I say, pointing up the stairs. Henry nods, and makes his way to the kitchen. "I'll make you guys a snack!"

Ethan and I walk up the stairs, and enter my bedroom. He immediately flops onto my bed. "I missed this place." His voice is muffled, due to his head being stuffed in my pillows. "It's been like, what three days?" I laugh, laying next to him. "I don't know, but that was too long." He rolls over, so his face isn't on the pillows anymore.

"So, what'd you wanna talk about?" He asks. "I dunno. I just needed an excuse to get you here, I think." He chuckles. "Could've just asked. Besides, we're best friends." He nudges my shoulder. I couldn't help but grin, "Yeah, we are." I chuckle.

I'd rather be his best friend supporting his relationship, than not be his friend and hating him for being happy.

"You and Lacey... You're happy?" I ask slowly. He blushes, "Yeah...." I nod. "Carter, can I tell you something." He props up onto his elbow facing me, and I mirror his actions, "Sure." I shrug, acting as if it was nothing. "You can't tell Lacey. Cause I know you two are friends and all, so just don't tell her, because I think I wanna tell her." He chuckles nervously. And suddenly I knew why he was going to say. I didn't reply, telling him to continue.

"Well, I think I love her."

My heart dropped.

But instead of confessing my feelings, and telling him to not love her. Instead of kissing him right here, right now, telling him I'm the one, I simply just said, "That's great." With the most fake, realistic smile I've ever had to make.
