Song: Far Away by Nickelback

Atem's POV

I have been watching my Aibou since I had to leave for the afterlife. I have spent time with my friends and family, but my concern right now is Yugi. He hasn't been doing well since I left. When he learned who his father was and accepted his position as the Pharaoh, I was in shock but I was very proud of him. My Aibou is the most selfless being that I have come across in my existence. I am standing by him as he talks to his friends. I am surprised by what his friends have accomplished, but I never doubted them.

Joey was still a duel monsters champion and he competes all around the world. Anzu is going to school for dance in America. Tristan has his garage. Bakura has been working for the museum. He even helped Yugi get my name into the history books. It is kind of weird because I have remained nameless until now. Marik and Ishizu have been in Egypt. They have been working with museums I think. I sit there amused at the group of friends. I see him pull out the crown and show them.

It took a lot to get them to let me visit him in his dream and give that to him. I had to go deep in my tomb to find it. The Gods almost didn't let me do that, but it was because I had given a lot to the world. I wish I could visit him more and have more time with him, but I am technically not allowed to even speak to him. What they allowed last night was a one time thing and they stressed that. I sigh and continue to listen in on their conversation. "Isn't it rude to eavesdrop my Pharaoh," says Mahad who appears beside me.

"I told you Mahad. Call me Atem," I say. "I know. It's still proper to call you by your title though. Is this the boy you have spoke about," he asks. "Yeah this is Yugi," I say. "Wow, he really does look almost exactly like you," he says. "Yeah, he does look a lot like me," I say. He pulls out the crown and shows his friends. "How did you give him that," he asks. "I asked the Gods if I could talk to him and give him that. I wanted him to have it and so that he knows that I am always watching over him," I say.

"I am sure he knew that regardless, but it certainly is a nice touch. He loves you and now he has a piece of you to carry with him through his reign," says Mahad. I told him that Yugi had figured out who his parents were and that he was gonna be crowned the next Pharaoh. I smile at Yugi. I am so proud of him. "I can tell that you miss him," he says. "Is it that obvious," I say. He just smiles at me. "Yeah I do miss him very much. The selfish part of me just wants him here with me so I can show him how much I love him in person. The other half wants him to live long," I say.

"I can't claim to know the separation that you are feeling, but I will say this. He knows how much you love him. Last night was a testimate to that and he will carry that with him for the rest of his days until it is time to come and be in the afterlife with you," he says. "Thanks Mahad. I needed to hear that. I guess Yugi isn't the only one having a hard time with this. I'm glad I got to see you all again except for Mana who I still don't know what happened to. It's just hard filling that void inside that only he can fill," I say.

He sighs and sits down. "Look at the way Yugi holds that crown. He cherishes it and loves it because it came from you. It that connection that he is holding on to and using to help lift him up. What I am saying is to use your connection and what you've learned from the void to lift you till you meet again and you will. I'm sure the Gods will see to that," he says. "I actually asked them if I could be the one to guide him through the crossover and they said yes," I say. "That's good my Pharaoh. You'll be the first one he see's and that will mean the most," he says.

"Thank you Mahad. Really you're a great friend," I say. He smiles and nods at me. We follow them back to the game shop after they said their goodbyes to their friends. I'm glad that they said yes to being on his court. It means that much more when the people on your court are people that you trust. We walk inside the game shop and I follow Solomon to the kitchen while Mahad follows Yugi upstairs. I have noticed that it has gotten increasingly harder for him to get around. Hopefully the Gods will allow me to help him cross over.

The phone rings and he picks it up. "Hello. Oh hi Mokuba. I am not surprised that Seto has heard the news. Yes Yugi has taken this all well. Oh the shop, I was going to move it to Egypt. Why do you ask? Are you sure Mokuba? Alright I will let you run the shop. Your welcome Mokuba now if you'll excuse me this old man needs rest and I have to check up on Yugi. That poor boy has till tomorrow to pack most of his stuff. Goodbye Mokuba," he says. I only hear Solomon's half of the conversation.

It's nice that the shop will remain open. I wonder if Mokuba will live in the game shop. I go upstairs to where Mahad and Yugi are. I see him pick up a picture of me. "I wonder who took that? It was probably Anzu," I say. Mahad laughs. He has seriously lightened up in the afterlife. We watch as he packs and he looks like he is lost in space almost. "The boy certainly has a lot on his mind," says Mahad. "You would too in that situation. It's certainly a lot to process in a short time," I say.

Grandpa comes up and checks on Yugi before heading to bed himself. After Yugi sleeps for a bit, I decide that it is time we return. "How bout we give him some peace for a bit," I say and he nods. I concentrate and we are both back in the afterlife. We appear in the throne room. Seth walks in through one of the corridors. "You're back from visiting Yugi. How is he," he asks. "Doing quite well in the situation. I think I may rest for a bit," I say and head off toward my chambers. One things for sure, I hope Yugi is mentally prepared for what may lay ahead of him.

**Yay! Finally this is out. The whole thing got deleted and I had to start over. Anyways thanks for all the support and I'll see you in the next chapter!**
