She flung herself against my pillow instead; hugging it to her chest with her hair sprawled out as she slept soundlessly. Strolling in the empty halls of our apartment in just my boxers, I rubbed my knuckles into my eyes, a tired yawn escaping my lips as I tried to locate my phone. I soon found it vibrating against the granite top of the kitchen island, the name 'Jade' flashing on the screen.
"What?" I snapped unintentionally, yawning once again as I heard chuckling on the other end.
"Good morning Sleeping Beauty," Jade responded, making me roll my eyes.
"What do you want?"
"Chill grumpy pants, I was just checking up on you, and maybe update you on what's going on," Jade told me as I dragged a hand down my face and leaned against the kitchen island.
"Couldn't you have done that during breakfast? Scarlett and I were planning to eat at the mess hall today."
"Harry, breakfast was at 9, it's 12 now. You're too late," Jade snickered, her words making me scowl and whine. I was looking forward to the omelets they made at the mess hall. "So, did she like the bracelet?" Jade's question caused a smile to immediately appear on my face, my mind reliving yesterday's events.
"She loved it," I told her. "She was so happy yesterday night."
"Aw, that's great. She deserves it," Jade said in response. "But anyways, I need to tell you something," she spoke again, her voice hesitant and grim. Her tone made me frown slightly, an arm folding over my chest as I held my phone to my face.
"What's wrong?"
"Scarlett and I were talking last night, and she started asking me questions about how you were during those five months while she was gone," Jade told me, her words immediately reminding me of how I was supposed to tell Scarlett exactly what Jade was explaining to me at the moment.
"Right, yeah, she asked me that too. I told her I would tell her today," I murmured, my eyes quickly glancing around to see if she was there. But she wasn't, probably still asleep.
"I'm sorry Harry, I didn't say anything but she got the impression you did something bad," Jade said somberly, making me sigh lightly.
"It's fine, I'm gonna have to tell her eventually."
"You're being honest, that's good."
"Yeah but it'll hurt her, to know that I did while she was gone," I muttered lowly before a voice spoke up from behind me, making my blood freeze in my veins.
"And what is it you did while I was gone?"
I immediately spun around with wide eyes; my lips parting when I noticed Scarlett standing there with a questioning look etched onto her face. I swallowed thickly, parting my lips to say goodbye to Jade before setting my phone down, all while holding eye contact with her. I noticed she wasn't in my t-shirt and panties anymore, dressed up in her regular clothes, all black. She approached me, noticing that I was too wrapped up in my thoughts to speak.
"You promised," she murmured softly, her gaze pleading now as her soft hands grasped my hips, pulling me towards her. My hands instantly moved upwards to cup her cheeks, rolling my thumbs over her cheekbones.
"I really don't want to tell you," I told her honestly, biting my lower lip anxiously as she huffed in frustration
"I can handle it Harry," she said firmly. "Is it that bad?" she whispered lowly. I pulled a face, still uneasy with this topic only because I was scared of her reaction.
