Chapter 9: Lies

I wrote down on my journal that Kazuo's grave was missing. I couldn't believe it. This had to be a dream right?

"Hey, get to the meeting. Today Seiji will announce the quota for this month." Shouta gave me a dirty look. I hated this guy with a passion.

"Sure." I stuffed my journal in my bag, and headed off to the conference room.

Junko walked alongside me. "I heard from Kyou that you think that boyfriend of yours is alive. Are you crazy?" He whispered.

"I am not. His grave was not there when I went to see him yesterday. What does that say?"

"I don't know." He shrugs. I realized he didn't know who Kazuo was despite the fact he saw him with me recently.

We walked into the conference room. Seiji signaled me to come over. I walked towards him nervously. "Yes?" I said.

"Get the room coffee will you?" He demanded.

I sighed. I hated this guy. Just because I was the youngest, he picks on me to do the dirty work. I will give him the pill today for sure.

I left the room, and went towards the lobby to exit the building. I hated this routine of getting everyone their coffee. I hate this job, but the pay was amazing.

I ran across the street to fetch the coffee. The barista there already knew me at this point. It was sad.

I got the coffee in the holder of four, and left the cafe. Crossing the street was the most painful part. My work building was basically in the most crowded city ever.

I looked down at my watch. Shit! I will be late if I don't make it back by 1:30. I sped up my pace to get to the other side when the signal went green. My legs were moving quick. I suddenly felt a big stabbing pain at the front of my shoe. I had completely missed the sidewalk, and tripped, and fell. My coffee cups went flying, and got all over this man. I looked up in embarrassment, and recognized his face. He was one of the men that worked in the office alongside Seiji. His face was baffled. He held out his hand. I took it in shame, and got up.

"I am sorry for spilling it on you. Let me pay for your dry cleaning." I bowed.

"It's okay Satoshi." He smiles.

"You know me?"

"I do attend the conferences. You are the newbie." He brushes off his pants which is still unfortunately drenched in coffee.

My face went sour. "I am so sorry. I don't know how you can go back looking like that."

"It's okay. I always have a spare change of clothes in my car." His voice was light, gentle, and soothing. He didn't have a hint of anger in his voice. Then again, I hardly hear him speak during the conferences.

"Takumi was it?" I asked.

"Yes. I was originally suppose to be the heir to this company, but Seiji was the boss's brother." He lightly chuckles.

"Should have made you. You are more pleasant." I said honestly.

"Maybe." He rubs the back of his neck. "I guess you need to buy more coffee. Shall I give you the money?"

"No it's okay! If anything, it is Seiji's money, not mine!"

"I insist you to take this money." He takes my hand gently, and placed a decent amount of yen in my hand. It practically was two thousand.

"No I can't." I pushed the money back.

"Ah please take it." He had a slight pout. I didn't want to take up time by arguing so I took the money.
