Ivy is now six months pregnant and today she has a doctors appointment. We were sitting in the waiting room of the baby clinic.
"Ivy Peterman? Dr. Shay will see you now." We got up and went to the back in the doctor's office. I never did like doctors but I have to, for Ivy. The doctor walked out.
"Ivy, Daveed it is good to see you again. OK come on Ivy you know the drill." She said. Ivy got on the table and the doctor put the jelly stuff on her stomach. Sh moved the stick over her stomach and looked at the screen. I looked at the screen too, but I was not sure what I was looking at.
"OK Ivy how have you been eating?"
"I eat just about everything now."
"Are you eating enough are you getting the nutrients you need?"
"Ummm why are you asking these questions doctor?" I ask a little nervous.
"Well it seems your baby girl is too small to be 6 months." I looked at Ivy who's eyes were filled with tears. I hugged her.
"That is not the worst part."
"Say what?" Ivy said crying.
"We will have to perform a c-section."
"Well your baby boy is no giving your girl enough room to grow." I looked at Ivy who was crying uncontrollably now.
"So when will we do the - ummm give birth?"
"In February. We can't wait the full 9 months."
"Ivy. Can you please talk to me." We were now in our apartment. And she hasn't said anything to me all day.
"I don't have anything to say."
"What are you thinking? I know you are thinking something."
"It is my fault."
"You can't honestly believe that."
"I do. I am carrying them and I can't even do that right. I am going to be an awful mother."
"No you are not. You are going to be an awesome mother and these kids are going to love you. They might love you almost as much as I do." I said pecking her lips. She smiled at me and yawned.
"You need some sleep." She just shook her head yes and rested her head on the pillow on the couch.
"Aren't you going to go upstairs?" I asked.
"Are you going to carry me?"
"The couch is comfortable, right."
"I thought so."
