You get dressed into your uniform, adding your favourite necklace as your own personal touch. It is (silver/gold/leather) with a beautiful roughly cut (birthstone) gem in the centre of the pendant in the shape of a heart.

Your father gave it to you on your first birthday, or so your mum claimed.

You tie your (h/c) hair in its usual style and grab your book bag for the day before heading downstairs to scoff a breakfast of (favourite food). Your mum seemed to be in a better mood this morning, although there were the slight shadows under her eyes that meant that she was tired. The night must have been a hard one for her.

Even so, she doesn't seem to want to talk about it, and so you wish her a good day and head off for school.

The walk there isn't long, and your route is direct, so no worrying about injured boys in dark alleyways.

You arrive with time to spare, but with nothing else to do, you find your seat in your form class and cram in some last minute studying. [just so that you know, cramming is meant to be really bad and make you actually forget stuff, but that doesn't stop me ;)]

The bell rings and your fellow classmates file into the room, followed by the teacher. Yuzu and Yuya are both in most of your classes, and your pink-haired friend takes the seat to your left, with tomato boy on your right. Both of your friends are smiling, but still seem nervous for the test, which you have first up. It seems they both had a normal and uneventful night. You are still not sure whether that is good or not.

Yuya notices your staring and offers you a reassuring smile, thinking that your uneasiness is for the exam. You feel bad. You want so badly to get the secret off of your shoulders, even though you don't yet know the real weight of it. Surely you can trust Yuya and Yuzu? They had been your closest friends for as long as you can remember. Yuya especially would understand. He always knew how to best deal with the problem. You can remember how he used to break up the fights you had with Yuzu over silly things like which colour cup you would get to use. Yuya could somehow make everything seem alright, and keep everyone smiling in the process.

You don't get to make your final decision, because your form teacher starts speaking about some 'helpful' tips for exams, and then the time comes for you to head off to mathematics.

The time passes quickly, and you are soon at lunch break. You are happy with how you did, and at least it means less things to think about now. Finding your usual spot under a large tree, you take out your sandwich for lunch, but don't eat it. Yuya and Yuzu soon join you, and start talking about the test.

Your thoughts drift back to Yuto. You just couldn't stop thinking about him. You can still remember his low, husky voice, and kind smile. Oh, that smile...

"(y/n)!?!" You whip your head to the source of the disturbance. Yuzu is looking at you with a concerned expression on her face.

"I asked you how you thought you did on the test. You seem spacy, are you OK?"

The idea of what you had been spacy about makes your cheeks heat, but you reassure your friend that you were fine, and just thinking.

"Are you sure you're OK? If there is something on your mind, we will always be here to listen." She gestures to the tomato-haired boy next to her, and they both give you tentative smiles.

You yet again got the familiar pang of guilt. They were always so good to you, so they deserved to know the truth, but you still weren't sure what that truth was quite yet.

"Thanks guys, you are both such great friends, but really, I'm fine. Tests just take a lot out of you that's all."

"Since when did you need to put any effort into an exam to get a good grade?" Yuya says this lightheartedly, though there is a hint of jealousy in his tone. Still, it was meant as a joke, so you give him the answer he was expecting.

"True, but mathematics can be hard for me sometimes."

"Yeah right! You are the top of the class! The only thing that you aren't better at than everyone else in the school is dueling."

"If I'm not the best at that, then who is?"

"Me, of course!"

"Sorry Yuya, but you forgot one small thing."

"What?!"

"I beat you." Yuya's eyes fill with challenge.

"Well, I declare a rematch. This afternoon at You Show."

"You might as well give up now." The boy's face reddens to resemble his hair.

"Careful, or someone might mistake you for a tomato and try to add you to their lunch!"

You jump out of the way just before Yuya collides with the tree where you were sitting just seconds ago. Knowing what will come next, you set off in a run towards the only safe place, the girls' bathrooms.

"Come back here!! I'm not finished with you yet!!"

You laugh, and finally reach the privacy of the restrooms, Yuzu soon following suit. You can both still hear Yuya's frustrated cries through the door, and you both break down into a fit of giggles.

"Did you see his face when you called him a tomato?" Your pink-haired friend askes, face alight with the humour of the events.

"I know! It made my statement even more true!" Yuzu laughs again and wraps her arms around you in a quick embrace.

"You were always able to make the best comebacks!"

"Thanks, but I didn't really think it through. Now what?" Yuzu sweat drops. Neither of you had thought that far ahead. Luckily, you were saved by the end of break bell.

Both of you waited a few more seconds, then snuck out of the bathrooms into the cover of the torrent of students making their way to class.

Your mood had improved dramatically, and although your thoughts of Yuto and Sora had not left your mind, you were able to concentrate properly for the first time in what felt like days.

[A/N]

I apologize for all of the tense changes and spelling and grammar mistakes in my work. I will try to edit it, but am still not sure whether to do past or present tense. If you would like to make a suggestion on this matter, please do by leaving a comment in the comments section. Also sorry for a shorter chapter, and that Yuto wasn't a big part. I can promise you that it will get better. He will appear either next chapter as a small part, or definitely a major part in chapter 4.

For those who have nothing better to do, please add in the comments whether you would like me to upload another story I have been working on to Wattpad. It is a dystopian-fantasy sort of novel about a group of persecuted magic-wielders called rogue casters in a broken future Earth. I still don't have a real title or completed idea of what exactly is going to happen, but I am pretty happy with it so far. Please add your opinion to this idea if you can.

Thank you for reading, and especially to those who have commented or voted or supported this story in any way. You guys are the reason I will give my all to keep this updated!

Again, thanks so much!!
