Jenny looked down uncertainly. Ivan was already in the sky, his great grey wings flapping in the wind. "Come on, it's not that hard." He said and Jenny strung a line of curse words that only made Ivan smirk more.
She took a deep breath and jumped. The ground was coming closer by the second. The air rushed past her ears. She stretched out her wings and flapped. She took to the sky, a smile replaced the fear.
It took her a few minutes but she soon got the hang of it and was flying as if she was born to do it.
She soared upwards, up towards the clouds. It looked red and she thought it was just the dust but the clouds were really red. Her wings flapped around her, each at least 2 meters long. Ivan flew up to her and smiled.
She couldn't describe this feeling, it felt as if you were free, as if there was no such thing as gravity. "This is amazing." She looked around her, the barren red land stretched on forever.
"It is isn't it?" Ivan smiled and laughed. "Wanna race?"
"Bring it on!" Jenny said and put her hands on her hips.
Jenny leaned back on the couch, she was back to her human form. Her shoulders hurt from racing all morning. She glady took the plate of sandwiches from Ivan and took a bite.
"You're not so bad, for a noob." Ivan said and sat down next to her.
"And you're really bad for a 10 year experienced flier." When she saw the small flicker of anger in his eyes she added, "Just kidding."
Ivan scuttled closer towards her and put an arm around the edge of the sofa. Jenny blushed a bright pink and tried to act normal. She looked at him
Then there was a ripple in the wall opposite her. Then the small head of the messanger popped out and it flew towards her. It ignored Ivan and whispered into Jenny's ear.
When it disappeared behind the wall again, she was paler than the full moon. Her eyes were wide and she stared at nothing.
"What did he say?" Ivan asked, clearly confused.
"I start tomorrow. We attack the church at 9."
