I knew that they were going to come for me after they lost Cody but that was hardly on my mind. Where could Cody possibly go? Max wouldn’t rest till he found him. There was no way I could protect my brother.
Only hours after Cody had left, the door bell rang. I took a deep breath and took slow, deliberate steps towards the door. I peeked through the peephole and saw the usually calm Liam’s face distorted in anger. Behind him stood Trey Durham, Nate Saunders and Jesse Gold, they were always by Liam’s side.
Liam banged on the door angrily, “I can smell you, Emelia. Open the fucking door!”
“Damn!” I muttered to herself and opened the door halfway and poked my head out. I didn’t want them to enter my house, not even Jesse even though he was one of my closest friends.
“Where’s Cody?” Liam’s arms were folded across his chest. He looked at me inquisitively. Did he really think I knew all the answers? There was a time when Liam and I had been friends but I was having a hard time remembering those high school days now.
“I don’t know,” I said.
Liam pushed past me into the house in one quick motion. I screamed in pain as my head smacked against the wall. I felt Liam’s hand close around my throat and in less than a second he had me against the wall, squirming under his gaze.
“Tell me now or I won’t think twice before snapping your head off.” He threatened through clenched teeth.
“He didn’t kill anyone!”
“If you’re helping him get away, Emelia, then I swear to god I will kill you!” His hand tightened around my neck and his eyes had turned into the darkest shade of black. He was beyond angry, i could see that.
“He’s your sister’s mate for christ’s sake!”
“That doesn’t prove his innocence!”
“He would never kill someone!”
“Shut the fuck up and tell me where he is!”
“I don’t know!” I claimed. Liam’s hand dropped from my neck and I fell to the floor. I scrambled to my feet as Liam barked orders at the men behind him. He was telling Nate and Jesse to search the entire territory for Cody and report back to him immediately. Trey stood silent behind Liam as the marched out the door.
“He didn’t do anything, Liam.” I whispered.
“He killed Arianna,” Liam said, without an expression, “his Luna.”
“He’s suffering for something he didn’t do.”
“Emelia, tell me where he is or I’ll lock you up.” Liam hissed.
“I don’t know!”
“Trey, do what you’re supposed to,” Liam ordered. His voice was absolutely calm. He wasn’t yelling or barking his orders and somehow, that made the whole ordeal a lot scarier.
Trey locked my hands behind my back and forced me out the door, right behind Liam. I tried to break free of his steady grip on my wrists but his grip was too tight for me. Trey forced me into the back of an SUV and climbed in after me.
The Williamsons’ mansion, which was only a short drive away, appeared larger and more daunting than ever before. I knew that there were prisons underground but I had never seen that part of the house.
Liam stopped right in front of the house and Trey pulled me out of the car. I could not believe that Liam was actually going to lock mw up with all the rogues and other wolves. So he had meant what he said. I wished that Cody had let me come with him but at this point, there seemed to be no way out.
“Liam, I really don’t know where he is!” I pleaded but Liam didn’t respond. He didn’t even look at me.
“Lock her up in that cell with Jayden Paxton,” Liam ordered Trey.
“Are you sure you wanna put her with Paxton?” Trey asked. Who was Jayden Paxton? And why did Liam want to put me with him?
“Do as I fucking say!” Liam barked at Trey who instantly bowed his head nodded slightly.
Trey held my hands behind her in a death grip and I squirmed under his firm grasp. Finally, I kicked Trey’s ‘part’ as hard as I could and he instantly let go and dropped to the floor with a scream of anguish.
“I can’t go down there!” I said to Liam. Liam’s eyes had turned the darkest shade of black and his canines were visible. He knocked me over the head and I fell to the floor as the blackness enfolded me.
